Vintage TV ads... mini portals back into time

Just as with music and other things, vintage TV commercials trigger something within us that brings us back to another time. The vintage Budweiser ad becomes an instant portal for many.... right back to some Sunday afternoon football game in the 1970s. The classic Miller beer commercial below, of which has been brought back recently, harkens back to a much more blue collar manufacturing-based America.

This was in 1979 apparently. As to whether or not anyone can relate to some aspect of popular culture before they were born, it depends. I think a teenager today could possibly relate to, for example, 'Fast Times At Ridgement High' (1982). Or, if something focuses back long before the time of anyone alive today, it can be seen with totally fresh eyes. Before the movie 'Braveheart'... nobody knew who William Wallace was.

Local-based commercials can be very memorable as well. I remember The Saw Mill ads, which reflected a certain marketing genius. As it turns out, the horse "George" was actually female. That would have worked better. Needless to say, there are a ton of vintage commercials on YouTube. If you search by year and/or by station, you might find them in clumps, such as with the link below. I think everyone must remember at least one or two TV jingles that they would want to hear again... if even just to jog their memory about a certain period or event for them. There's a certain glory attached to even some short period, as silly as it may sound. They're almost like music videos, and as you can relate to them.
