Not, you might have thought, company the US president would prefer to be associated with.
Does Trump know what would be lost? Probably not – but he’s hardly the only one. The fact that the country is rarely visited by western tourists is not due to a lack of attractions. With a civilization dating back 5,000 years, and over 20 UNESCO world heritage sites, Iran’s cultural heritage is rich and unique, especially its religious architecture, which displays a mastery of geometry, abstract design and pre-industrial engineering practically unparalleled in civilization. It's interesting to look at the attempts to speak for the Devil in music. High level Satanism, as practiced by people in high places, is the only spiritual tradition that I know of where their highest god is used to sardonically mock using the loudest guises. Are these provocative lyrics hypothetical? Are they theoretical? Does it pretend to mimic a type of possession? Is it the beast in man used in a type of allegory, or is it a real deity in their minds? It's never really clear.
The origin of a lot of popular music, especially the early works in the latter 60s, is most bizarre.... tied to the intelligence community... and just too much to cover here. Just looking at the sheer number of popular musical artists from families with intelligence backgrounds on both sides of the pond is staggering. CIA kids in Laurel Canyon.
