Autumn Equinox 2021 - Full Harvest Moon

"Moon-Venus-Mars Trifecta"

Last night, during the early morning hours of August 26, I went for a late hike. I was very behind on my sleep, so I slept several hours early, and I left for several hours to hike. I observed what I call the "Moon-Venus-Mars Trifecta." All three were in a perfectly straight line from left to right: Moon, Venus, and Mars. This may be much more relevant to me here for a couple of reasons. First, in this mountain oasis amid vast urbanization, the number of stars and planets which are visible on a clear night is limited. We're lucky to see what we can see here! In this particular location between the San Francisco Bay and some mountains forming a little valley, the Moon and Venus are very visible on a clear night, and Mars tags behind a bit. Other times it can be left to right--for example--Venus, Moon, and Mars.... or really any combination.

Last night the Moon still had that almost-full look to it, so to see them in a straight line, close, and equally distanced apart was special. I suppose absolute perfection would be Venus, Full Moon, and Mars with the same straight line, close proximity, and equally distanced. Other conditions are special, such as a triangle or a wider straight line across the sky. As I have stated before, now I have taken to associate--only for myself--my mother as the Moon, my sister as Venus, and my ex-fiance as Mars. Mars of course symbolizes "war" and male energy, but since all three have passed on and that concept suits some aspects of her personality, I make the association. The Moon does symbolize "the Mother" and Venus symbolizes love and feminine energy.

To see them up there, it was like all three were sending me a message that they're keeping watch over me, and of course being amid the darkness, trees, and brush of the trail... it only enhanced that feeling. Also, they could be a perfect Triple-Goddes: My mother Janet as the Crone, my ex-fiance Rachel as the Mother, and my sister Katherine as the maiden as she was so young when she passed. Personality-wise, Rachel would be a much better fit as the Crone with her temper and occasional brooding. Needless to say, in a perfect world for me, all three would still be here; along with cousins who would never be born. My misfortune. At one point, in the direction of a particularly dark area of the canyon, coyote howls started up! It's hard to say how many that it sounded like, although it could have been only a half dozen. I'm only sorry that I couldn't just stay out there longer, but I had to get more sleep.

"Technocrat Vera MacKenzie"

Yesterday, upon visiting a columbarium, I noticed again the location for the remains of a woman defined as "Technocrat Vera MacKenzie" who passed away in 1944. The name "Technocracy, Inc." was at the bottom of it. The technocracy movement as been around since the 19th century. It's similar to other "-isms and -acies" in that it can be used for both the common good or evil, and defended tooth-and-nail by many. In other words, another undefined thing that the super wealthy planned out for us without our approval. "A better world through science," even though "science" is presented as just one thing. Just like Democracy, Religion, Capitalism, Socialism, Anarchism, Republicanism, Humanism, eugenics, etc., there are vastly different types within each!

Is "science" when a fossil and artifact is discovered which absolutely does-not-fit established theories and would destroy careers and halt funding... that it's packed away in cold storage... or sometimes just goes missing!? It is supposed to be defined as Scientific Method, but it doesn't always work out that way when someone's idea of an "improper conclusion" results from that established method. Just like Capitalism or Socialism, Technocracy theoretically could be fashioned in such a way as to be a great aid to humanity. I'm guessing that this woman would be of the mindset of the early benevolent thinking. However, all we get is Agenda 30, "corporate humanism," Globalism, "billionaires unions," unelected bureaucrats, lobbying from the highest bidders, and so many other things that are each massive in scope. What was discovered from the MK Ultra program of the CIA doesn't in any way show any path to a world utopia, but simply control by the few.

This here isn't the article, but she is really a charming lil gal. There are a few more photos in the above link. This is actually rare among particularly famous people. Most are just wierdos who thrive on being that. This really looks like genuine love. Too bad they didn't meet twenty years ago. Neat couple.

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (with lyrics)

THE LYRICS ARE HERE, PEOPLE, SO PLEASE DON'T ASK!
Guys, I know this isn't the original album cover, but I think it's an amazing picture, and I believe it represents Pink Floyd's legacy and success throughout these years.

This song was posted as a tribute to Syd Barrett.

******

'Wish You Were Here' lyrics

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skys from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade
Your heros for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

Dodge Challenger R/T "Muscle Car"

There's nothing like a red-orange Dodge Challenger with two black stripes down across the top and all-black rims and general accessories. There's that particular deep red-orange color, but also the deep medium blue is nice. This is the one automobile in which I think the modern version looks better than the classic 1970 Dodge Challenger convertable... which is saying a lot. The original Chrystler model was available from 1970 to 1974, the second incarnation under Mitsubishi from 1978 to 1983, before returning with Chrystler in 2008.

The danger that is never spoken of...

Yesterday after having two fillings replaced at my dentist's office, I tried eating at least something in the form of a few almonds and small celery sticks. At one point I bit my lip slightly without even noticing or feeling it at all. I can really see how someone could truly tear up their lip in this manner! The simple truth is: NEVER EAT ANYTHING AFTER YOU HAVE HAD NOVOCAINE AND YOUR MOUTH IS STILL NUMB! Never as in literally never never! It's not worth even tempting a terrible accident. Only liquid through a straw if necessary. I remember in the movie 'North Dallas Forty' where the issue of a player being given a shot to numb pain in his injured knee, and how he could tear up his knee simply by not feeling what's going on there!

In this video, David Goggins mentions that self-discipline is everything. It's all on you! The self part is what's big. Do not allow yourself to become civilized. Be uncommon amongst uncommon people. We have 2 voices in our minds. The coddling voice and the demon voice. The soft voice that is nurturing. The other voice that says to get up and pushes you. That's the voice you need to listen to. People look for inspiration. Inspiration is found in every first step you take. It's found in suffering. We believe we work harder than we actually are. Drop your entitled mindset. Most of us haven't worked hard. Learn to help yourself. Don't count on other people to help you. We all have our own tests. The only way to overcome it is for you and you alone to face it! Stay Hard!

Evangelical Pastor John MacArthur tells fellow pastor Beth Moore to "GO HOME!" in regards to being a female pastor

There are many articles and videos about this. Here are a few:

Does the Bible Permit a Woman to Preach? (video; John MacArthur)

John MacArthur Beth Moore Go Home (audio; John MacArthur)

'John MacArthur Attacks Beth Moore' (article; EternityNews.com)

I could make a career off of this guy! The manner in which he plays up the stereotype is the stuff of Hollywood. He resembles the character "Warden Norton" from the 'Shawshank Redemption'. I left the following comment on one of these videos:

Pastor MacArthur is very similar to Warden Norton from the 'Shawshank Redemption'. Warden Norton was a zealous Christian, stuck firm to prison doctrine, and actually had quite a dry sense of humor if you watch closely. However, just like Warden Norton, Pastor MacArthur occasionally "goes a little too far" (((sarcasm))).

Pastor MacArthur (in jest): "She doesn't bother doing much prep work for her sermons, she's such a good off-the-cuff storyteller, a lot of people are starting to listen to her, she makes them laugh, and she's so cute!"

His Judgement Cometh

....and that Right Soon

-- Warden Norton's mantra

************

Dear Warden,

You were right.

.....Salvation lay within

-- Andy Dufresne's parting message to the warden

************

I'm almost a bit surprised that nobody seems to have picked up on the Warden Norton/Pastor MacArthur thingie. The following video is the scene where "judgement cometh" for the warden, including the above quotes, and beneath it another sarcastic comment by myself on the video...

The Shawshank Redemption - Warden Norton's Death

"This is how Pastor John MacArthur got his start! In 1970 after recovering from the bullet wound that just barely missed his brain, John MacArthur Norton was let off on a technicality, then moved to Simi Valley, Califrornia and became a pastor, and the rest is history..."

Jokes aside, the two do indeed have many similar traits, including a dry sense of humor. Even their appearance is similar, although the pastor is older than the warden, and they have the same dress and basic demeanor. The warden does have a bolder temperment, and is more violent.

Beth Moore is an eccentric pastor who deviates away from Biblical teachings to tell silly and entertaining stories, and has a certain cutsy manner about her. I can almost read Pastor MacArthur's thoughts when watching her!: "Where's the ole fire and brimstone!? She's making them laugh! She's too cute! GRRRR"

These are great real-life characters! This would make a great high school theater production. You almost couldn't make this stuff up... because anyone would tell you that the two main characters were just too over-the-top! That in real-life, they wouldn't be soo stereotypical. Well, they are! Who would she be like? Lucy Ricardo? An old Goldie Hawn character? Sort've a Kelly Ripa behind the pulpit, or how about 'Long Island Medium' of the Gospel? Here are a few examples of Pastor Moore's Biblical stand-up routine...

"In 1985 I had an Lisa-Apple Computer. I wrote programs for it and my 64 Commodor, and in my Computer Magazine was a long article about how Bill Gates was digitizing the Book of Enoch. Legal battle persued because he did not produce it in a timely manner and return after he was given it at a meeting above a Pizza Diner. By the time the original was given back tons of pages were missing and destroyed. Why do I remember this? I was in college and working for a Pizza diner and a re-stocking at local and college libraries to put myself through college. I read the old paper version as it was written long before the crime took place. I know for a fact you have not read an old pre-1930's paper version. Beware of Digital Enoch."

Full Sturgeon Moon – August

This will be something of a tweener between two evenings (8/22@8:02 est), but it will be at it's brightest on the evening of Saturday, August 21st/the early morning hours of Sunday, August 22nd.

The fishing tribes are given credit for the naming of this Moon, since sturgeon, a large fish of the Great Lakes and other major bodies of water, were most readily caught during this month. A few tribes knew it as the Full Red Moon because, as the Moon rises, it appears reddish through any sultry haze. It was also called the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon.

"Hour of the Witch"

The above was a Christian video series produced by Steve Wohlberg/White Horse Media about ten years ago about how "omg! witchcraft is going mainstream!" He obviously put a lot of work into it, but it never really took off in the way he wanted it to with about a thousand views a year. I thought it was funny that one YouTube user, Carla Brown, left a comment regarding how all these references would actually be an education for someone who was actually interested in the subject of Wicca: "Man this guy is giving out good books on wicca." I replied to her....

I remember something Stephen Flowers said several years ago in an interview. He brought up how his childhood Christian community (pastor, parents, sunday school teachers, etc) in Texas had brought to his attention a whole slew of pagan and occult things to avoid... and instead of avoiding them he thought: "wow, this looks like the kinda stuff that I should be getting into!"

The second purpose if to cater to anyone interested in the ancient folk traditions of Europe, or anywhere in the world, and to revive them in some form. The third purpose is to explore some other themes of culture.. often those overlooked, the natural world and universe, mysteries and folklore, or the light and dark occult.

"Once more into the fray..."

A couple of evenings ago I again got to hiking late, and I had about a 45 minute hike ahead of me. It was twilight already, and so I knew that I would be in complete darkness during the last 22 minutes of the hike through a wooded area. I still had about 22 minutes to walk through the grassy foothills first. At this point I heard a group of coyotes having what I call "a rally." This is when they gather and howl at twilight, but never did I hear this in this particular area; it was always far off in the distance.

These rallies are not to be confused with individual howls or many scattered howls when they hear the sound of a police car or ambulance coming from a nearby urban area. This is when they get together for some type of "shape up" to get ready and get excited to go out and hunt and forge that night. Most importantly for me was that these howls were emanating from a particular area which I had to transgress on my way back. There was no way to avoid it. When in a wild area, a human becomes part of the food chain in a way. The same dangers that raccoons, skunks, rabbits, etc. face out there in the dark, in this case coyotes, the human theoretically faces in the darkness.

When out there alone, you really are alone! It gets so dark and desolate; your cries for help would not be heard by anyone. I think there's a built in fear of the dark and wild from our ancestral memory of the dangers of the night for hundreds of thousands of years... perhaps millions of years. Although coyote or even mountain lions attacks are rare.. they're always possible. Also, rabid animals of many types are always a danger. The darkness truly does change everything. A 19 year old Canadian folk singer named Taylor Mitchell was killed by coywolves when hiking alone in a very remote wilderness in Ontario in 2009. I'm not suggesting that this area was anything as remote as that one, or that these coyotes are the danger that coywolves are, but officially at least she was reported to have been killed by "a pack of coyotes." Well, there are small groups of five or six coyotes out there; there's some reason for concern.

As I finally reached the mouth of the wooded area that I dreaded 22 minutes prior when I heard the group howling rally from this very location, I tried to think of it as a challenge. How many times in life can we challenge nature when nature has the advantage? I didn't ask for this, but often that's how challenges occur. As I got closer and closer to the dark entrance, I was forced to think of ways I could fight if I had to. I had my flashlight, whose batteries were starting to dim a bit after months of use. The mouth of the woods was at least visually a clearly black opening amid the large trees, a foreboding sight considering what I had heard earlier, and even the reports from last year of a mountain lion in the area, or how about a possible rattlesnake, or even the danger presented by a deranged person. People like Dennis Rader the BTK killer are out in the world.

As is always the case, as I entered the blackness I became part of the blackness. In theory, I was also a competitor in the dark. My eyes adjusted a bit, and I could then see the various vague shapes of the trail, trees, and the sky. There was an 8 minute walk through the darkest part before the trail would morph into the last 15 minutes of trail which was less ominous... a slightly wider trail with more sky, more light, a road in the distance. Did the coyotes move as a pack? Did they break up into smaller groups? Did they go solo? Every so often I heard some small animal make a noise, which was alarming. It's amazing to consider that had it been an hour or two earlier, this would just be a pleasant walk.

I moved the flashlight from side to side slowly, occasionally shining it far ahead along the trail, and once in awhile looking in back of me. I made it back to the street without incident. The threat level probably wasn't too high. People do camp in much more remote areas, in tents, with bears about, all the time. On the other hand, coyotes in southern California have known to drag children into the brush, never to be seen again. Its happened. There's a young woman who I encounter up there at times. She's kind've tall, and basically the coytoes probably wouldn't bother with an adult human. We're a mystery to them. However, it's often a matter of scale. They might think otherwise with a child. Our place on the food chain is an awkward one. We're supposed to be on top, yet can be taken down very quickly by wolves, rattlesnakes, bees, poison oak, etc.

"I don't think people should look at this as a realistic depiction on wolfs and nature in general. It's moreover a poetic view on what life is about. Even though you know what the end result of your life would be, you still have the opportunity to fight for your life as long as you have it.

"The movie also proclaims that in many cases you don't fight for yourself only but also for the people around you. At the start of the movie is Liam Neeson's character suicidal because he doesn't think there's anything important to live for anymore. But after the crash he has this group of survivors to take care of and thus having obligations to keep himself alive for the sake of the others. One of the big drivers to keep yourself alive is your importance for others. If you don't feel important to others you don't feel obliged to live." -- Stefan

Hoarding vs Minimalism

'Hoarders' is one of the original popular reality programs, and is currently airing new episodes on Monday evening on A&E. The polar opposite of a hoarder is a minimalist. The great majority of people lay somewhere in between both extremes. Naturally I believe that minimalism is best, but easier said than done. I think many people entertain a subconscious fantasy that one day there will be a personal or family museum somewhere, and that they must save everything for that day which will never come. The best you can do is have a home where we can feature some items, art, etc. for viewing. I admit I have a daydream about having a bar and/or eatery where I could feature unusual items of interest to me. Actually a couple of years ago I saw a property for about $300,000 which included a bar and some apartments in a location which I would like to perhaps live someday. Realistically, this daydream isn't likely to happen. Even if I purchased that property and tried to run the bar, I probably would use a different theme if any. In other words, I would do myself a favor by eventually doing away with things that are not of great importance to me... including some obscure items which may be mildly interesting to me. Like everyone else, I have some items of sentimental value which I would not part with. It isn't good to have too many of those types of things.

I never understood housewarming parties! Other people decorating your house for you? Your sports fanatic friend gives you a sports related item, your Buddhist friend gives you a Buddhist related item, your animal lover friend gives you an animal related item, and everyone takes a turn giving you an item and at the end of the day where's the room for the things that you cherish! It's so easy to hoard. Even if you take out some items for a project, suddenly you find that there is stuff everywhere; you had just condensed them for storage. The old question: do you control your stuff, or does your stuff control you? We can become a slave to the things meant to serve us. In my extremist minimalist philosophy, I believe that when people first enter a home they may want to buy, it looks beautiful all empty! Usually it's all downhill from there. For just one example, I have two full boxes of paperwork that I have to go through; much of it is just from mail. Having art and items around us which defines us is perfect, but it gets out've hand quickly. Even when people put things into storage rooms, they often don't come back. Subconsciously they really wish they could just "start over" again.

More comments on the artistry of Taylor Mitchell:

Whitney Pastorek (Entertainment Weekly) on the songs of Taylor Mitchell:
"They're the work of an old soul, a girl whose voice is still finding its strength but whose musical character was already fully formed — her songs are wistful, traditional country-folk, certainly worthy of the classic mature beyond her years chestnut."

Michael Johnston, close friend of Taylor Mitchell and producer of her debut album 'For Your Consideration':
"[She was] a brilliant, bold and beautiful light that people were naturally drawn to. She was so young and talented. Her big dreams were a perfect match with her big, kind heart. She was always positive to be around, and people jumped at the chance to work with her. They saw in her the rarest of the gifts: an ability to sing, not only from the heart, but in a way that transcended her age and experience and became something universal."

Lisa Weitz, Taylor Mitchell's manager:
"Taylor was just the most generous and open-hearted person, a big soul. You felt that generosity of spirit and a big heart. Taylor was a seeker and a sojourner, a teller of tales. She had such a gift for storytelling and songwriting. She could capture images, places and people so masterfully. She was seasoned beyond her years."

With blossoms sweet and fair

And birds rejoice with chorus loud

As if in thankful prayer

Come build your nest within my boughs

Sweet blackbird sing your song

For life is full of potency

And winter is long gone

Easter - April 4th

'What Are the Easter Bunny's Origins? Here's the Fascinating History of the Easter Bunny'

Ever wonder what a cute woodland creature has to do with Easter?

By Hannah Jeon - GoodHousekeeping.com - March 4, 2020

Every year on Easter, legend has it that a long-eared, cotton-tailed creature comes to deliver festive baskets full of treats, toys, and delicious candy to children — and even lays colorful eggs for them to find! Among other Easter traditions like hot cross buns and egg hunts, the Easter Bunny has long been a well-known and popular symbol associated with the religious holiday — but have you ever wondered about the Easter Bunny's origins, and how exactly the cute, fluffy woodland creature became such a prevalent symbol of Easter?

Surprisingly, there's a lot of history behind the mythical story of an egg-bearing rabbit on Easter Sunday (and it's not just because he's cute!). The Easter Bunny actually has a long and deeply rooted history in the Christian holiday — and even in pagan traditions. Here's what to know about the fascinating origins of the Easter Bunny before you welcome the holiday with chocolate rabbits and plenty of bunny-shaped treats — including where the character comes from, why he's associated with Easter eggs, and how he became such a beloved symbol of the holiday over the years.

The Blue Moon

[followup to 'The Green Moon' of part 1]

On the previous piece, I mentioned the golden moonlight that one can see when the night conditions are right. I also mentioned the illusion of "green moonlight" under the same conditions. While adding that there was an almost theoretical "blue moonlight" which possibly can be perceived. Just after publishing that, on Saturday, I went on a twilight/night hike with perfect conditions: almost full moon, particularly bright moonlight, moon positioned above at a slight angle, no wind or breeze, and a clear sky.

Upon reaching one point with a fabulous night view of the San Francisco Bay, I noticed that I could make out that the water was of a dark blue color under the moonlight in certain spots; not the blue water when illuminated by the sunlight. That got me thinking about what I had written, that there was at least the illusion of blue moonlight. Just by the night sky being of a dark blue hue also leads to an additional concept of blue light.

The little brush rabbits are very active at night, and can be see along the trail. Although rabbits are common prey animals, and I've observed so many of them over the years, I had never seen any evidence of any of them perishing. The very next day, yesterday, I came across a  body; probably a victim of coyotes. Ever since the coyote population increased in recent years, there has been an absence of wildcats, raccoons, skunks, and foxes in the area. They were once at least easy to spot along the trails.

The beautiful Traci Lords

Still known more for what she did as an underage youth rather than for 98 mainstream and b-film characters as an actress, and other bodies of work as a producer, director, composer, writer, voice characters, and makeup artist in the industry; as well as a recording artist, model, activist, and business woman. Even the IMDb at least allows her "Traci Lords is a study of a determined and complex woman with a very controversial background."

Classic reality TV

Two programs, which I guess what could now be called classic reality television, are back again with all new episodes on A&E. 'Intervention' premiered on March 15, and 'Storage Wars' will premiere on April 20. It never ceases to amaze me how obstinate those with narcotic abuse problems are on this program, but if they didn't react in that manner nobody would watch. 'Storage Wars' has quite a cast of characters. I was thinking that all of the other storage auctions out there have probably been so flooded with people since this program started ten years ago.
