'Everything You Need to Know About the Angel Number 777'

Yes, it's lucky.

By Jaliessa Sipress - Cosmopolitan.com - August 24, 2022

You’re in the back of an Uber and you can’t stop thinking about that promotion—Will you get it? Will they choose someone else? Did you say the right thing in the interview? In the midst of your racing thoughts, you look out the window just in time to see a black Mercedes with 777 on the license plate.

You’ve heard that repeating numbers mean something *spiritual* somewhere, and honestly, with the rush that just went through your body when you spotted the 777, right as you worried about that promotion, you wonder: What does it all mean?!

What are angel numbers?

Well, repeating numbers are angel numbers, a sequence of numbers that come with a message. Angel numbers are related to numerology, and they are significant signs and symbols from the universe offering advice on what’s going on in your life, and what could happen in your future. When you see another repeating number (like 1111), a palindromic number (like 1221), or a number with special significance to you (like your mom’s birthday), this could offer some direction to help you on your path. Especially if it’s caught at an important moment, trust that that 12:12 isn’t just a cool coincidence, it’s a sign.

Geography
Wasatch Range is located in Utah
Wasatch Range
States: Utah and Idaho
Parent range: Rocky Mountains

The Wasatch Range (WAH-satch) or Wasatch Mountains is a mountain range in the western United States that runs about 160 miles (260 km) from the Utah-Idaho border south to central Utah. It is the western edge of the greater Rocky Mountains, and the eastern edge of the Great Basin region. The northern extension of the Wasatch Range, the Bear River Mountains, extends just into Idaho, constituting all of the Wasatch Range in that state.

In the language of the native Ute people, Wasatch means "mountain pass" or "low pass over high range." According to William Bright, the mountains were named for a Shoshoni leader who was named with the Shoshoni term wasattsi, meaning "blue heron."

 The beautiful Yvonne De Carlo

************

Yvonne De Carlo

Margaret Yvonne Middleton (September 1, 1922 – January 8, 2007), known professionally as Yvonne De Carlo, was a Canadian-American actress, dancer and singer. She became a Hollywood film star in the 1940s and 50s, made several recordings, and later acted on television and stage.

Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, De Carlo was enrolled by her mother in a local dance school when she was three. By the early 1940s, she and her mother had moved to Los Angeles, where De Carlo participated in beauty contests and worked as a dancer in nightclubs. She began working in motion pictures in 1941, in short subjects. She sang "The Lamp of Memory" in a three-minute Soundies musical and in 1942 signed a three-year contract with Paramount Pictures, where she was given uncredited bit parts in important films. Her first lead was for independent producer E. B. Derr in the James Fenimore Cooper adventure Deerslayer in 1943.

She obtained her breakthrough role in Salome, Where She Danced (1945), a Universal Pictures release produced by Walter Wanger, who described her as "the most beautiful girl in the world." The film's publicity and success turned her into a star, and she signed a five-year contract with Universal. Universal starred her in its lavish Technicolor productions, such as Frontier Gal (1945), Song of Scheherazade (1947), and Slave Girl (1947). Cameramen voted her "Queen of Technicolor" three years in a row. Tired of being typecast as exotic women, she made her first serious dramatic performances in two film noirs, Brute Force (1947) and Criss Cross (1949).

The first American film star to visit Israel, De Carlo received further recognition as an actress for her leading performances in the British comedies Hotel Sahara (1951), The Captain's Paradise (1953), and Happy Ever After (1954). Her career reached its peak when eminent producer-director Cecil B. DeMille cast her as Moses' Midianite wife, Sephora, her most prominent film role, in his biblical epic The Ten Commandments (1956),[5] for which she won a Laurel Award for Topliner Supporting Actress.[6] Her success continued with other notable starring roles in Flame of the Islands (1956), Death of a Scoundrel (1956), Band of Angels (1957), and The Sword and the Cross (1958), in which she portrayed Mary Magdalene.

She starred in the CBS sitcom The Munsters (1964–1966),[7] playing Herman Munster's glamorous vampire wife, Lily, a role she reprised in the feature film Munster, Go Home! (1966) and the television film The Munsters' Revenge (1981). In 1971, she played Carlotta Campion and introduced the popular song "I'm Still Here" in the Broadway production of the Stephen Sondheim musical Follies. Yvonne, her best-selling autobiography, was published in 1987. A stroke survivor, De Carlo died of heart failure in 2007. She was awarded two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to motion pictures and television.

Great Red Spot

The Red Spot is a persistent high-pressure region in the atmosphere of Jupiter, producing an anticyclonic storm that is the largest in the Solar System. Located 22 degrees south of Jupiter's equator, it produces wind-speeds up to 432 km/h (268 mph). Observations from 1665 to 1713 are believed to be of the same storm; if this is correct, it has existed for at least 357 years. It was next observed in September 1831, with 60 recorded observations between then and 1878, when continuous observations began.

"Possibly the most iconic ending in movie history."
-- Tom McFarland

"I was 11 when I saw this movie and I've never forgotten the horror gasp from the audience of this ending. It's etched in my mind forever."
-- Steve Jorfi

"When I saw this as a youngster it really scared me. I was sad at the destroyed Statue of Liberty and after the movie my father told me about nuclear war. I lost some innocence watching this film."
-- Chris L.

"One of the best, most shocking scenes in the history of movie making."
-- Timotheus

"No other movie has ever had an ending this powerful and this shocking.  Still makes me gasp every time I see it."
-- Bryan Nelson

"Taylor falling to his knees in the sand as the Statue of Liberty watches from above has got to be one of the greatest shots in cinematic history"
-- O Benbenisti

"I remember watching the movie with my father in the theater when it came out.  I was in grammar school at the time.  Everyone who saw it previously kept their mouths SHUT.  The gasps from the audience were unbelievable at the conclusion.  NOBODY saw it coming!  ALL you had at the end was that iconic scene with the derelict Statue Of Liberty, fade to Black, then the credits rolled.  Absolutely NO music JUST the waves of the ocean crashing to the shore.  Iconic scene and one of the BEST movie endings EVER!"
-- Charles Kuckel

"One of the most iconic scene in the cinematography without a doubt."
-- Sergio Ramón Rodríguez Cajiga

"I was sixteen when I saw this at the theater. One of the best endings to a movie ever."
-- BOND0930

"There are so many combinations that make this scene so great. Heston yelling, camera movements and the sound of the ocean as it intensifies. The sound of the ocean is telling us that its alive and well and it will outlast man and machine through the test of time."
-- GTX

My YouTube response to the last comment above

I noticed that the "flame piece" on the statue was missing; the spark of human civilization was long gone. Also, the beautiful Captain Stewart was to have been the "New Eve." She was probably first in her class, first in everything, 170 IQ, etc. However, it ended up being the simple, innocent Nova ("the sun" representing "the new torch" "the new horizon") who became the "New Eve." As Taylor agonized on the sand on his knees, Nova was standing and holding the reins of the horse and looking up at the statue which she couldn't comprehend.... maybe symbolizing "lets move forward."

"No quarter" - A new escalation

No quarter flags have been adopted by some police and their supporters as s symbol of fighting crime. According to the "No quarter" Wikipedia page: "The phrase no quarter was generally used during military conflict to imply combatants would not be taken prisoner, but killed." The above image caught my eye before I even knew what it represented. Of course, it's a type of pirate-inspired flag. What could go wrong? It does go on to say: "According to some modern American dictionaries a person who is given no quarter is "not treated kindly" or 'treated in a very harsh way.'" I suppose the latter is the actual intent, although anyone looking it up will see the former first, and that could very well be after a violent incident.

International humanitarian law

"Under international humanitarian law, "it is especially forbidden ... to declare that no quarter will be given." This was established under Article 23 (d) of the 1907 Hague Convention IV - The Laws and Customs of War on Land.[10] Since a judgment on the law relating to war crimes and crimes against humanity at the Nuremberg Trials in October 1946, the 1907 Hague Convention, including the explicit prohibition to declare that no quarter will be given, are considered to be part of the customary laws of war and are binding on all parties in an international armed conflict."

Proxima Centauri b is officially a "potentially habitable planet" according to the weekly journal 'Nature'. It's 4.2 light years away, or 266,000 times the distance between the Earth and the Sun (92.96 million miles). Unfortunately, that means that the distance between the Earth and Proxima B is between 24 and 25 trillion miles. The only planetary body that is even close for human habitatin is Saturn's moon Titan, which has an average temperture of -290 F. In comparison, the average temperature of Antarctica -70 F.

I saw this several weeks ago, and it was a surprise to me, and original horror flick. It gets pretty weird near the end. There's already a sequel in the works.

Moon Talk

Scientists are studying ways to utilize the Moon's resources to benefit activities on Earth as well as aid in space exploration. One proposal being considered is the mining of ice at the lunar poles. Ice would be converted to drinking water, oxygen, and hydrogen fuel and stored at orbiting stations, where spacecraft traveling to Mars or other areas could refuel and restock. This would save costs because fewer of these resources would need to be transported from Earth.

Indo-European Prayer and Ritual

How to pray like an Indo-European pagan. Where should you conduct prayers and rituals? What can you sacrifice at a blót and what libations can be poured? What should you say in a prayer and which god do you invoke?

I answer these questions and explain the tripartite format of Indo-European prayer with reference to Sigrdrífumál and the cycle of reciprocal gift giving. I also show you what my shrine and idols look like and how I make an offering to them.

Wolfsbane

Aconitum

Aconitum, commonly known as aconite, monkshood, wolf's bane, leopard's bane, mousebane, women's bane, devil's helmet, queen of poisons, or blue rocket, is a genus of over 250 species of flowering plants belonging to the family Ranunculaceae. These herbaceous perennial plants are chiefly native to the mountainous parts of the Northern Hemisphere, growing in the moisture-retentive but well-draining soils of mountain meadows. Most species are extremely poisonous and must be dealt with very carefully.

************

''The Toxicity Surrounding Wolfsbane'

I keep thinking that Neopagans can make use of this wolfsbane, but I'm not certain if it's too toxic to handle. There are videos of people handling it however. The word "bane" means a cause of great distress or annoyance, hence the folkloric term "Wolfs bane" (wolfsbane) to ward off werewolves. Were our ancestors trying to repel wolfs, werewolves, or both? In other words, if we symbolically wore a pendant with a little glass veil of wolfsbane, are we warding off a wolf, other dangerous animals, a dangerous human aka "werewolf," the "werewolf" inside of us, or just "danger" in general? Certainly in the pantheon of real dangers today, the wolf would be near the bottom of the list. Since wolves were an ever-present danger to our ancestors, especially when alone in a remote area, it would seem logical that wolfsbane would represent "danger at large" for us today. This plant is tied to our ancestral folklore. Maybe it's time to bring it back for ritual...

1944 Schrader Diving Helmet

US Navy Mk V Mod 1 Diving Helmet

[A. Schrader and Son, Brooklyn, New York]

Manufactured by Schrader subsidiary, Scovill Manufacturing Company of Brooklyn, New York, in March 1944. Serial No. 1580B
neo
The dive helmet’s US Navy WWII history is not known by the current owner. However, pre-1970 this dive helmet was used in the salvage of sunken WWII ships along the Taiwan coast. The dive helmet’s previous owner was working as a commercial diver in Taiwan from 1968 to 1970, constructing an oil terminal for the national oil company. His work involved underwater inspection of civil works in Keelung & Taichung. He worked with local diving and overseas construction companies, using scuba and surface supplied lightweight gear. He traded this gear for the dive helmet before leaving Taiwan in 1970. 39 years later the current owner purchased it from him.

I recall as a child of having an action figure of a man and all of the gear related to one of the original deep diving suits. I found the vintage style to be fascinating, particularly the copper colored helmet. It's the same idea as the moon helmet from 1969.

Some other points:

-most websites that endorse blood magic and rituals agree to use extreme caution and have a more complete understanding of the process before attempting.

-they also say blood spells are not to be taken lightly and cannot be undone.

-the will of the spirit is what gives power to an individual... The magic is in you already!

Commentary on four unrelated films, for no particular reason

I make no mention of most films that I see, but I was recently reminded of several films that I just felt like commenting on. Some months ago I saw the film 'Changeling' (2008) with Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich, directed by Clint Eastwood. Based on a true story, it was about a mother of a kidnapped child in 1928 who was then put in the middle of system madness, and the only person of any power who was willing to help was a Los Angeles-based reverend. It was one of the few films in recent memory which depicts a Christian character fighting the mainstream system for justice in more-or-less just a general secular manner. Great cinematography, but with a dark mood.

As mentioned in "Part I," the film 'Jaws' is still so wildly popular. It's actually on TV again this week! People can't get enough of the ominous pursuit of the shark hunt, as well as the shark itself. There was really something about the scene set at twilight where they were in the cabin singing, telling jokes and stories. Of course after 1975, with the popularity of the film, the shark craze was on... or just general dramas set on the ocean. In 1977 the film 'The Deep' was released. Starring Jacqueline Bisset and Nick Nolte, it was a big box office success. Robert Shaw was also in it, adding something of a 'Jaws' flavor. For some reason, I have literally never seen where this movie has ever been on television! At least not in decades; very strange.

The third film I was thinking of was entitled 'Power' (1986). It was such a "would-be good movie" that didn't deliver. Although I have not seen it since that time, I don't recall it being the "train wreck" that some thought that it was ("a well-meaning, witless, insufferably smug movie that . . . suffers from the total lack of a comic imagination"). The film stars a slumping 1980s (post-'An Officer and a Gentleman') Richard Gere playing the role of a "a ruthless and highly successful media consultant" who shamelessly uses serious events to garner political support for this clients running for office. The film was a great idea, and reflected much truth. I think I would prefer a failed film, which tried to reflect some truth, rather than a successful film based on deceit.

'Southie' is a 1999 film starring Donnie Wahlberg as a young Irish guy who returns home to South Boston after a stay in New York City. From what I can recall, it was never really clear if he wanted to get involved in organized crime or was opposed to it. He came off as distant, somewhat prone to violence, even while trying go straight. I do recall that this film was continuously on the verge of "just getting good" and "really leading to something"..... then it just abruptly ENDED. It was a film which may actually have been good if it actually "happened!!" Two hours of a continuous opening scene to peak the audience's interest; no movie!

The time I accidentally tapped into a DOD website

When I first got on the internet, I did a search for "General John Shalikashvili," since I heard that he was a big promoter of "world government," combining our military with that of other countries with joint exercises, and training foreign troops on U.S. soil. After I clicked on one of the results, a very strange looking site came on the screen. It was black with a sidebar made up of various other colors in a type of dark metalic... all just pulsating! Then after a few seconds, a window with very large text popped up on my screen. It said something like "WARNING. YOU HAVE ENTERED A NATIONAL SECURITY WEBSITE. LEAVE IMMEDIATELY." It was actually sort've scary. I just clicked off the entire screen. In hindsight, I suppose that someone could have saved the link, then entered it at some video cafe, which were popular at the time. I could understand if the site was accidentally connected to search engines, but if it was a national security site, why didn't the DOD just use the "dark web" for it?

'James Ellroy's L.A.: City of Demons'

In 2011, the popular cable channel Investigation Discovery released a new series about the crime history of Los Angeles and Hollywood with the above title. It featured James Elroy, the popular author of so much of this history, including 'L.A. Confidential'... later made into a movie. Being that this true crime history is extremely interesting, it would seem to have been an excellent idea. The six-episode season only lasted two or three weeks before being pulled, which is very unusual.

"Ellroy's affected manner as presenter in this series is so irksome and distracting (he actually seems to be miming a stroke victim or some poor backward possibly drunk} slurred speech soul reading from cue cards ) as to ruin whatever content that may otherwise have contained some potential interest."
-- blademan-95603, IMDb user

He spoke slowly and over-pronounced his words, which was not even how he normally speaks. The program also featured his sidekick, a cartoon "crime dog," which probably didn't help the program any. It's still strange that they didn't just finish the last three or four episodes, as the basic content was interesting at least. Amazingly, somehow this forgotten and forgettable series found it's way to dvd, even despite the ID channel not seeing fit to air at least half the season. Ellroy really dropped the ball on this, since he was the logical person to present this sordid crime history.

No less than eleven of James Ellroy's books have been made into movies, and have done well, which makes his cable TV documentary disaster of 2011 even more remarkable. Hopefully his book 'My Dark Places' will never make it to screen--it is officially in development--as he shamelessly fantasizes about his mother who was murdered in a still unsolved case from 1958. I think that the idea of producing a good and complete series on the crime history of LA and "Tinseltown" would be a great idea.

'Herodias' by Paul Delaroche

Hērōdiás; c. 15 BC — after 39 AD) was a princess of the Herodian dynasty of Judaea during the time of the Roman Empire.

In the Gospels of Matthew and Mark, Herodias plays a major role in John the Baptist's execution, using her daughter's dance before Antipas and his party guests to ask for the head of the Baptist as a reward. According to the Gospel of Mark, Antipas did not want to put John the Baptist to death, for Antipas liked to listen to John the Baptist preach (Mark 6:20).

Herodias was literally a character from the Bible. It's interesting that, although she was born in Jerusalem in the Roman province of Judea, she died in Lyon, France. I suppose she was upwardly mobile, being from a royal family.

Beethoven's unknown "Immortal Beloved"

The actual transcript of the first of the three letters:

************

6 July, morning

My angel, my all, my own self — only a few words today, and that too with pencil (with yours) — only till tomorrow is my lodging definitely fixed. What abominable waste of time in such things — why this deep grief, where necessity speaks?

Can our love persist otherwise than through sacrifices, than by not demanding everything? Canst thou change it, that thou are not entirely mine, I not entirely thine? Oh, God, look into beautiful Nature and compose your mind to the inevitable. Love demands everything and is quite right, so it is for me with you, for you with me — only you forget so easily, that I must live for you and for me — were we quite united, you would notice this painful feeling as little as I should . . .

. . . We shall probably soon meet, even today I cannot communicate my remarks to you, which during these days I made about my life — were our hearts close together, I should probably not make any such remarks. My bosom is full, to tell you much — there are moments when I find that speech is nothing at all. Brighten up — remain my true and only treasure, my all, as I to you. The rest the gods must send, what must be for us and shall.

Your faithful

Ludwig

Full Pink Moon (April 29) and Tana's Day (May Eve/May 1) 2018

Merrily we go around the Maypole

************

If Easter doesn't finally ring in spring, then Beltane is the sealer; with the rains finally at season's end, the mark of what will be six months of generally good weather. "May Eve" is also a time for celebration for many as well. Beltane/May Day is known in Stregheria as "Tana's Day." The coming Full Pink Moon will occur on the evening of April 29, only one day prior to Beltane; therefore we will have something of a three-day festival. A Full Pink Moon on the 29th, May Eve on the 30th, and Beltane on May 1st. If you check, there likely will be a Beltane spring ritual, with maypole dances and chanting; usually by younger female dancers. It's no longer a fertility rite, now merely a spring festival.

Tana’s Day — La Giornata di Tana — May Eve/May 1

Celebration for the full return of the Goddess from the Realm of Shadows. She has returned to her hidden children, bringing with her the Mysteries she has learned. We also celebrate God and Goddess, and their delight in each other. They court, and the world is made merry. Goddess becomes the dominant force, and the Goddess months begin.

'What is Alpha Centauri hiding? Searches for Earth-like planets ramp up around our nearest stellar neighbor'

David Aragorn - EarthMysteryNews.com - April 11, 2018

Alpha Centauri, a three-star system just 4 light-years away that is the sun's nearest neighbor, ought to be a great place to look for Earth-like planets. But last week, at a meeting of the European Astronomical Society (EAS) here, astronomers lamented the way the system has thwarted discovery efforts so far—and announced new efforts to probe it.

“It’s very likely that there are planets,” says Pierre Kervella of the Paris Observatory in Meudon, France, but the nature and positions of the stars complicate the search. “It’s a little frustrating for planet searchers.”

The system’s two sunlike stars, Alpha Centauri A and B, orbit each other closely while Proxima Centauri, a tempestuous red dwarf, hangs onto the system tenuously in a much more distant orbit. In 2016, astronomers discovered an Earth-mass planet around Proxima Centauri, but the planet, blasted by radiation and fierce stellar winds, seems unlikely to be habitable. Astrobiologists think the other two stars are more likely to host temperate, Earth-like planets.

Shades of gray : America's wolf dilemma

The Ecologist

The future of the gray wolf is uncertain. The polarized debate over killing wolves and the search for a middle ground is the subject of this new film by the Ecologist Film Unit, made in association with Link TV.

In the film, we travel to Montana and Wyoming to gauge the views of ranchers, hunters, scientists, taxidermists, conservationists and a former Governor of Montana. We explore the complex middle ground of hard truths and innovative solutions in the polarised battle over the place of wolves in the American West.

The full 26 minute investigation is now available online at www.linktv.org/earthfocus

Antarctica the Real Story is Stranger than Fiction

Spiritual Warfare

Way down in New Swabia, Antarctica, two panicked survivors of a British reconnaissance team scream these words into a radio message: “The Polar Men have found us!” And then the radio goes dead. This was at t almost the exact same moment when Europe is celebrating V-E day in May 1945.

Still, more and more revelations were forthcoming. The summer before, we were told, the original scientists and commandos had found an “ancient tunnel”. Under orders, the force went through the tunnel but only two returned before the Antarctic winter set in. During the winter months, the two survivors made absurd claims over the radio about “Polar Men, ancient tunnels and Nazis.”

Mark 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. [KJV]

Night of the Living Dead (HD, FULL MOVIE, 1968)

1968 classic in FULL HD!

************

'Night of the Living Dead' turns 50

There's some sort've hi-tech restoration of the film now available for the film's 50th anniversary (see below). This film was very popular way back on the Bay Area's local 'Creature Features' weekend late-night horror showcase. I recall, although I don't remember where, of viewing an uncut/expanded edition with many deleted scenes. It was very interesting, a very different twist to the entire film. There was an eccentric overzealous preacher who looked a lot like Anton LeVey featured. There are a lot of interesting reunions and interviews about the film on YouTube. There is one curious interview with Duane Jones, who played the main protagonist "Ben." He turned to teaching acting and performing in the theater after NLD. An eloquent speaker and connoisseur of the arts, he was hardly the type to star in a horror film... much less one as gruesome as this... and one of the most famous horror classic of all. He passed away 30 years ago.

George Romero, the father of the zombie genre, passed away last year at a time where this genre is more popular than ever. Somehow he lost rights to NLD and it became "public domain," so he benefited little financially from it. One aspect of NLD which struck me was that it was so "Pennsylvania." Supernatural aside, the scenery and characters fit well in the countryside of western Pennsylvania. Up to that time, a really scary movie would've been like 'Psycho'; there had never been a film like this before! This was no-holds bared. The film industry probably wanted to give it an X rating. Perhaps only 'The Exorcist', which came out five years later, was as shocking for films in-and-around that time period.

Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds - Fallin' In Love

Jun Cristobal

Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds was a 1970s AM soft rock trio from Los Angeles. The original members were Dan Hamilton (guitar/lead vocal), Joe Frank Carollo (bass/vocal), and Tommy Reynolds (multi-instrumentalist/vocal), all of whom had previously played in The T-Bones, a 1960s band noted for the instrumental hit "No Matter What Shape (Your Stomach's In)". The group first hit the charts in 1971 with "Don't Pull Your Love." Reynolds left the group in late 1972, and was replaced by keyboardist Alan Dennison; however, the band still kept the name 'Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds'. This revised line-up scored the group's biggest hit, 1975's "Fallin' in Love."

'As Filming Ends, Bill Moseley Raves That ‘3 from Hell’ is a Rob Zombie Masterpiece'

John Squires - Bloody-Disgusting.com - April 12, 2018

If you’re asking me, The Devil’s Rejects remains Rob Zombie’s masterpiece, which is why I’m personally very excited that he’s returning to that world for third “Firefly Franchise” installment, 3 from Hell. Bill Moseley, Sid Haig and Sheri Moon are (somehow) all back for the new film, which appears to have just wrapped filming this week.

Fitting, giving House of 1000 Corpses just celebrated its 15th birthday!

In a post over on Facebook, Moseley raved about Zombie’s latest…

“Exhausted but happy, Rob Zombie masterpiece, 3 from Hell, in the proverbial can (nowadays I guess it’s in the hard drive). Great time last night, got all the shots we needed before we picture wrapped on the Valuzat movie ranch in dear old Santa Clarita, and now the trucks are packed and rolling, the actors all changed out of their wardrobe & makeup and off to new adventures, the sun’s up and I’m heading down the highway, my spirit animals, the Doobie Brothers, filling my head and heart with enough rhythm and cheer to get me back home to Los Angeles. It’ll probably hit me in a day or two what we did, the enormity, the intensity, but meanwhile, I’m going to eat a lot, sleep a lot, brush em like crazy (Beach Boys lyric).

One thing I can say, when this movie comes out, your guys’s mindsies are gonna be big time blown! Thanks for your thoughts & prayers (haha), Otis D.”

I take you on a journey to Fast Times Filming locations as I explain the history behind Cameron Crowes book Fast Times at Ridgemont High that includes a bit about Neal Preston on set of the shooting of We Bought A Zoo. Daily VLOG of another beautiful California day. The story also involves Hailee Steinfeld, Scarlett Johansson and Crystal the Capuchin Monkey. See what movies were shot at Van Nuys High School and Sherman Oaks Galleria.

************

For a film 36 years old, it's amazing how it possesses so many contemporary elements. For one thing, the early 80s ushered in a more modern cinematography which has remained comparatively similar. Many elements and behaviors of teenage life are comparatively similar. Even "the mall" could pass for today. The Fast Times book probably should be republished. It's interesting that Cameron Crowe's other personal non-fiction film 'Almost Famous' had a more-or-less similar general theme. It's fascinating when people are able to visit the filming location of a favorite film(s), Personally, I've never done it; but I would imagine that it would be like a paraspiritual experience, regardless if others would not see it that way.

Orleans - Dance With Me

Jun Cristobal

"Dance with Me" is the title of a 1975 hit single by American soft rock band Orleans.

The song was written by group member John Hall and journalist-turned-lyricist Johanna Hall (then a married couple). According to Johanna Hall, John Hall wrote the melody first, and when on first hearing it Johanna suggested "Dance with Me" as the title John rejected the idea as too simple. The couple were out driving one day when Johanna, struck by inspiration, blurted out the lyrics: "Pick the beat up and kick your feet up", and John was won over to the idea of her writing the song's lyric for the title "Dance With Me."

Featuring a melodica solo by Larry Hoppen, "Dance With Me" was introduced on the album Let There Be Music and was issued as that album's second single July 19 1975 to become Orleans' first Top 40 single, reaching a Billboard Hot 100 peak of #6 that October.

The Great Alter of Zeus

************

Pergamon Altar

The Pergamon Altar is a monumental construction built during the reign of king Eumenes II in the first half of the 2nd century BC on one of the terraces of the acropolis of the ancient Greek city of Pergamon in Asia Minor.

******

Up until the second half of the 20th century it had been assumed by some scholars that the altar was endowed in 184 BC by Eumenes II after a victory over the Celtic Tolistoagian tribe and their leader Ortiagon. In the meantime, later datings relating the altar to archaeological findings and historical events are under discussion. It is not imperative to connect the altar endowment with specific military events such as the Roman victories over Antiochos III in 184 BC in alliance with Eumenes II, or Eumenes II's own victory over the Galatians in 166 BC.

Investigation of the altar's construction and friezes has led to the conclusion that it was not conceived as a monument to a particular victory. The design of Pergamene victory monuments is known from the literature and monument relics. The most famous are Roman copies of bronze statues of the "Great Gaul," representations of defeated Celts after the victory of Attalos I over the Tolistoagians, or reliefs showing booty weapons from the halls of the Pergamene Athena sanctuary, which was dedicated by Eumenes II to the goddess who brought victory after the triumph over the Seleucids and their allies in 184 BC.

'The Ainu, the hidden people of Japan, try to keep their traditions alive'

Dean Irvine - CNN.com - February 9, 2015

"Are you scared when you have to go back to the mountain at night?"

It's a not a question guides at a museum would usually be asked, but it's happened to those at the outdoor Ainu Museum and cultural village in Hokkaido, the northernmost and second-largest island of Japan.

The museum is dedicated to the culture of the Ainu people, an ethnic group that not many -- even in Japan itself -- know much about.

For weary guides at the museum, who live close to the museum in Shiraoi, an hour's drive from the city of Sapporo (but not in primitive huts on the hillside), being able to tell visitors about their unique heritage and language is worth the occasional muddleheaded question.

Brutal hunting methods

The Ainu people are the indigenous inhabitants of Hokkaido. They're also present on Sakhalin, the island off the east coast of Russia, as well as northern Honshu, Japan's biggest island.

Meeting a modern day Ainu isn't common.

Estimates put the population of Ainu at around 24,000, and finding any who can speak the critically endangered language fluently is harder still: the Endangered Language Project puts the number of native speakers at just 10.

Located outside the small town of Shiraoi (itself an Ainu word meaning "place with many horseflies"), the museum is a re-creation of an Ainu village on the shores of Lake Poroto.

Visitors are immediately greeted by a 30-foot wooden statue of a bearded Ainu chief. From this stoic totem they can stroll among a series of thatched houses and botanical gardens, getting a glimpse of Ainu traditions stretching back about 1,000 years.

The Bonnie Blue Flag (instrumental)

The Bonnie Blue flag is such a great song, either in instrumental or with vocals, that I couldn't really sift through them all on YouTube and choose the best ones. Basically it's a song best sung by a chorus of men, but this instrumental was so good and showed the flag without any visual distraction.

Below is a powerful scene from the 1999 tv-movie 'The Hunley', a pretty good film about the submarine developed by the Confederacy during the Civil War... and which was actually raised from the ocean sometime after the film was produced, with the naval seamen receiving military burials. What was interesting about the scene was that one of the major Carolina coastal cities, I can't remember which one (Charleston?), was being very effectively bombed by Union battle ships. I don't think many people today think of air bombings anytime during in the 19th century.

The Hunley is one of my favorite movies. Scientists now believe they know how the crew died. It wasn't drowning, It was traumatic concussion that ruptured their lungs and caused massive brain hemorrhage from the concussion of the torpedo. They achieved their goal- they took out an enemy ship successfully and  changed naval warfare forever.
