Wild Coyotes Roam Free in San Francisco During City's Lockdown
Bloomberg QuickTake
Wild coyotes are taking advantage of coronavirus restrictions in San Francisco by roaming freely while the city’s population remains mostly indoors.
The San Francisco Gate reported that city residents have document coyote sightings on social media.
Known as the North American Song Dog, coyotes historically lived in the Bay Area, including San Francisco, until the mid-1900s, according to the San Francisco Department of the Environment.
The animals almost completely disappeared when an influx of poison bait was used to keep wildlife out of Bay Area farms, the department said. The introduction of stricter regulations on using poison bait for wildlife has led to an increase in coyotes in the area.
Authorities advise people not to feed or approach the coyotes, especially during the spring season when they may have pups in tow or nearby.
In this footage, taken by San Francisco photographer Scott Oller, a coyote can be seen exploring Kirby Cove, a beach area with views of the Golden Gate bridge. Oller said the shelter-in-place order has brought out wildlife in the bay area.
“This coyote noticed some whale bones on the beach at Kirby Cove and trotted down to investigate,” he said.
“She didn’t seem to mind me hanging out just 30 feet away. I’m glad I live within biking distance of the golden gate bridge during this lockdown,” he added.

They can often even be seen in downtown SF. They first showed up--or if one wants to say "returned"--in the Presidio maybe fifteen years ago, migrating southward from Marin County. Then about five years ago they started showing up in San Bruno Mountain Park, south of the city, having migrated northward from the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Rod Stewart ~ Da Ya Think I'm Sexy 1978 Disco Purrfection Version

I finally got around to doing something with Rod Stewart's 1978 "sellout" disco song "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" four years after I first thought about doing it. I got my paws on the instrumental and a capella tracks to come up with this Disco Purrfection version. The original disco remix is a classic in itself and there was nothing new I could have brought to the turntables using that version.

The charismatic Tygh Runyan
This past week I watched a 2011 Lifetime channel film entitled 'Hunt for the I-5 Killer', starring Tygh Runyon as early 1980's serial killer Randall Woodfield. It was a fairly good film, which kept the viewer somewhat on the edge of their seat. I thought Runyan captured the narcissistic personality of many serial killers, lulling women into situations. Although in this case, those around him; not the victims whom were merely viciously attacked. Sara Canning played the part of victim Beth Williams who survived despite being shot in the head, grazing the side of her scalp. It portrayed courage like it really is, emerging in spurts until finally manifesting. John Corbett played the role of Dave Kominek, the detective in charge of the case.
I just don't watch a lot of movies anymore, so when I've seen a good actor like Tygh Runyan, Timothy Olyphant, or Billy Crudup, I only see them very sporadically after that. Actually they're working on multiple projects every year. Some people are such big fans that they will vote with their pocketbooks by seeing or purchasing all of their work. Unlike the other two actors mentioned, Tygh Runyan has that catchy name, and is probably just a little bit cooler than them. Obviously from reading some of the YouTube comments, lots of women feel the same way. I can recall some popular B-film actresses whom I thought I would maybe purchase all of their films and memorabilia, but I never did. Some of them have done sixty or seventy films before their fortieth birthday.

[Above: An illustration of the temperate rainforest that thrived in West Antarctica about 90 million years ago, when dinosaurs still walked the Earth]
'Remains of 90 million-year-old rainforest discovered under Antarctic ice'
Laura Geggel - LiveScience.com - April 02, 2020
Fossil traces of an ancient rainforest were just unearthed in West Antarctica
About 90 million years ago, West Antarctica was home to a thriving temperate rainforest, according to fossil roots, pollen and spores recently discovered there, a new study finds.
The world was a different place back then. During the middle of the Cretaceous period (145 million to 65 million years ago), dinosaurs roamed Earth and sea levels were 558 feet (170 meters) higher than they are today. Sea-surface temperatures in the tropics were as hot as 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 degrees Celsius).
This scorching climate allowed a rainforest — similar to those seen in New Zealand today — to take root in Antarctica, the researchers said.
