'Frozen in Time' - Italian Hall disaster - Part I

Italian Hall - Calumet, Upper Michigan - 1913

'Frozen in Time'

By Larry Penn

The cold winter moon still rises to find
A trace of the old Calumet Copper Mine
And the place where the children were waiting inside
For legend to freeze them in time.

The Keweenaw wind blows lonesome and cold
It cuts to the marrow and chills to the soul
With the memory of children like yours and like mine
Too young to be frozen in time
