Thoughts upon the Festival of Thesmophoria - Part 1

Fall bats

Above, an image for the season. Bats represent "dark" but not evil energy. There probably isn't a more misunderstood animal than the bat. I'm in awe of bats. Last week while hiking along a wooded trail at twilight, I saw a cluster of them in one area, darting about in a circular clearing above me. As far as I know, they pose almost zero threat to people or other animals. Maybe if they got inside of a garage or barn they could be a problem; and only the tropical vampire bat would be of some concern as far as aggressive behavior. 99.5% of the time they are merely little fury flying caretakers of the environment; keeping insect levels down, pollinating, and fertilizing. True stewards of the earth; minus the credit.

Festival of Themophoria

10/23 eve to 10/26 eve: Thesmophoria–Old Greek festival commemorating the transformation of Goddess Kore (Queen of the Living) into Persephone (Queen of the Dead), when She eloped to Elysium with Her partner, God Dionysos/Plouton, accompanied by Goddess Hekate and spirits of the dead. At Eleusis, Dionysos was considered the life aspect and Plouton the death aspect of the same Deity, just as Kore was considered the life aspect and Persephone the death aspect of the same Deity. Dionysos was wild, and subject to excess drinking, dancing, and sex. While Kore, Gaia, Zeus, and Helios considered Him to be a marital prize, Demeter thought otherwise. Consequently, She mourned their union by striking the Earth with famine.

Large Hadron Collider - The hour is now!

'Scientists at Large Hadron Collider hope to make contact with PARALLEL UNIVERSE in days'

The staggeringly complex LHC ‘atom smasher’ at the CERN centre in Geneva, Switzerland, will be fired up to its highest energy levels ever in a bid to detect – or even create – miniature black holes.

If successful a completely new universe will be revealed – rewriting not only the physics books but the philosophy books too.

It is even possible that gravity from our own universe may ‘leak’ into this parallel universe, scientists at the LHC say.

The experiment is sure to inflame alarmist critics of the LHC, many of whom initially warned the high energy particle collider would spell the end of our universe with the creation a black hole of its own.

Jesus the Druid?

As you may already know, there were sixteen almost identical ancient "sun as savior" myths from the edge of Europe to India. Well apparently one of these sun deities was present in Druidic Tradition as Esus or Hesus. I had always heard stories from researchers that the ancient Phoenician-Saturnian religion somehow migrated and influenced the Druidic tradition; and also that the ancient "mystery school network" not only existed between Greece and Egypt to India, but also possibly included the Druids and the Chinese. Esus was even carved onto the Pillar of the Boatmen along with the Gaulish god Cernunnos.

'Jesus the Druid: Was Christ in Great Britain?'

Genocide as good entertainment?

The movie 'The Last Witch Hunter' opens today. It's interesting that the mainstream cries "foul" whenever they perceive some injustice--real or imagined--yet, they would object to any criticism of movies in which evil "pagans" are systematically murdered... and especially in light of the fact that it once happened. Can you imagine if, instead of "witch hunter," different religious or spiritual demographic names replaced "witch?" I wonder how much the films' director Breck Eisner would enjoy that??

A few random thoughts and ideas during Ostara

Bats and more bats

During this unexpectedly warm March weather in the northern Santa Cruz mountains, I find myself endlessly fascinated with seeing twilight bats at close range. There's just something surreal about these flying mammals. There's almost a contrived perception of "evil" about them. Actually, they're an extremely important part of the ecosystem. I heard once that if bats were to disappear from the planet, insects would take up all of the known space in the world. If that were true, then these caped rodents would be more like our heroes.

Worldwide black panther mystery

I ran into an old article from the San Francisco Chronicle entitled 'Black panther sightings in Bay Area parks'. I didn't think it was something to post by itself, but it does bring forward the mystery of "black panther sightings" in places where they shouldn't be. A black panther is merely an African leopard or South American jaguar which has a gene for black fur. So even if there were a few leopards in England, they would presumably be the more usual spotted variety... not black-only. This could all just be written off as misinterpretations, except that they have been caught on film! These Bay Area black panther sightings were reported to be mountain lion sized. However, there is no known history of "black mountain lions." The mystery continues...

Israel = "Is-Ra-El"

The biblical name "Israel" comes from the combining of three goddesses and gods of the ancient world. The Egyptian goddess "Isis"; the Egyptian god "Ra"; and the Phoenician god "El." Inconvenient facts like this have been a thorn in the side of the three eclectic Abrahamic religions for many centuries. Another fun fact: The "dollar sign." The symbol "$" represents the Egyptian goddess Isis.

Owls.. again

Perhaps an even more ominous sight in the twilight sky is the owl. I continue to see them along the wooded mountain trails on warm evenings. I even saw one which flew upon a high branch, in which I could plainly see the silhouette of a rodent in it's mouth. Surprisingly, owls are mostly fluff and feathers, but they do have an amazing wingspan. I would guess at least five feet wide.

Little pumpkin gifts

Flowers are expensive, and last only a few days; at which time the person whom you wanted to give the small token to must toss them in the garbage. Little pumpkins last many months indoors, fully retaining their shape, color, and texture, without any odor. This seems like a more pragmatic token to give someone... anyone.

"Magic water"... litterally!

Did you know that if you took two plain bottles of water, and labeled one "Love" and the other "Hate," that the properties of the two would change. The positive willful intent of the "love-water" would form beautiful crystalline structures that would retain themselves; while the negative willful intent of the "hate-water" would become mucky and the structures would look like muddy footprints. The most skeptical, atheistic, supposed admirers of science would never be interested in even studying this phenomenon because they have a vested interest in the science of earth, air, fire, water... but never "spirit."

All of these metaphysical issues, especially those which can be proven, should be studied in all of our universities. The current Hegelian-paradigm is "closed-minded religion vs. closed-minded science." Even if your opponent is 100% wrong, a negative reaction would fill YOU with negativity. Even if you had to fight someone, you could engage in it with what I call "cold anger." Cold anger is when you just allow the negative-energy/hate to just run through you, and you just engage in evolutionary struggle. A boxer, fighter, or martial arts expert does not generally feel any hate or negativity. They just engage in the art of combat.

Twilight War: Bird vs. Bat

CRAZY AIR BATTLE - BATS VS CROWS

billschannel

These large fruit bats, sometimes called "flying foxes" find a big fruit tree to hang out in. But some local crows decide to take charge and get all the fruit for themselves. The bats give up their tree at first, but then strike back with a Vengence. Filmed near Galle in Sri Lanka.

****************************************************************

As a child, vacationing with my family at Clearlake in Northern California, I remember seeing all the bats flying around the tops of oak trees at twilight on hot summer nights. I very specifically recall thinking sometimes as to what would happen during twilight when birds retiring for the evening might meet up with awakening nocturnal bats? At some point, I merely dismissed the concept as impossible, since the two are so different beyond the fact that both can fly.... avian and rodent, reptilian and mammal. It just "wouldn't happen," but if it ever did, they would probably just ignore each other. It was just like some weird concept that maybe seemed logical, but was easy to just dismiss.

"Flying foxes" are a type of tropical bat, the largest bats in the world; and who resemble a long-snouted fox more than the common notion of a "flying rodent." Some bats have been compared to primates, as they look somewhat monkey-like. They're a very interesting animal, fascinating to watch.

Crows, on the other hand, are found all over the world in different climates. They're fiercely territorial, as I can personally attest to, living very close to them. They aren't aggressive to humans, but drive other birds away. I saw several attack a sea gull and tear it apart some years ago. Just a few weeks ago I saw a falcon in a raven infested area. It landed on a chimney, and suddenly a raven landed nearby it and stared at it. Then another raven landed and did the same, which prompted the falcon to leave. Ravens are a type of crow.

The battle in this video stemmed from a fight for resources, which was not exactly something that I would have thought would bring them together. These species are so different. It's just a weird combination, but fascinating.
