AP Exclusive: Abuse, Terror Haunt Ex Churchgoers

From all over the world, they flocked to Spindale, North Carolina, lured by promises of inner peace and eternal life. What many found instead: years of terror — waged in the name of the Lord. The Word of Faith Fellowship denies the allegations.

Late last night I viewed a program on Investigation Discovery channel called 'People Magazine Investigates', an episode from 2019 entitled 'The Word Of Faith Fellowship' about the Word of Faith Fellowship in the mountains of western North Carolina. Apparently the real story behind the group is more disturbing than the below videos from TV news reports reflect. For example, any medical problem was handled by sending the people to a particular quack who permanently damaged the feet and ankles of numerous children. His methods were so barbaric, and to me shows more than anything the madness of the group. Perhaps just as disturbing was the fact that the group has members within the local political, court, and law enforcement systems. This group apparently is part of the larger "Word of Faith movement," of which many Christians are critical of.

'Extreme Paranormal Witness' is just a continuation of 'Paranormal Witness'. The program, which premiered in 2011 on the Syfy channel and has been idle since 2016, apparently was sold by NBCUniversal to Discovery, Inc. It is in season now on Thursday evenings on the Travel Channel.

Over this past weekend, I took the time to watch the 1975 action-horror film 'Race with the Devil starring Peter Fonda. It was an unexpected treat! It had a certain visceral quality to it. Filmed in rural Texas, the RV/camper themed terrain could remind one of that 70's vacation you had a a kid. There was no attempt to glamorize it, or the characters much. The film starts slow, then gradually the pace starts to increase, until finally it was an all-out war! There was an eerie quality to it, as it depicted a large murderous Satanic cult, with members willing to give their lives in order to strike their targets. It was like 'Easy Rider' meets "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre', and perhaps that's what they producers had in mind. About ten years ago there was an attempt to produce a remake, but it fell through. You can't go to authorities because they're members too! That sorta thing. There's a lot of action, but it had a point. Things built up to it.

'From Beyond the Grave' (1974)
I saw this one a short while back. It was pretty eerie, in a different category than 'Race with the Devil' as it was paranormal horror. It was a Hammer film, which always seem to be good. I probably ran into this film on the old Creature Features as a kid and just don't remember it.

Extremely disturbing non-stop campaign of articles about the Asatru Folk Assembly
Mainstream media attacks private non-political group in hit pieces since last summer; almost daily now!
Last year, the AFA opened it's third hof, following those in California and North Carolina. A very sightly but abandoned Lutheran Church in Murdock, Minnesota was leased or purchased by the group. Sounds like great news to me. However, unelected bureaucrats with massive funding have decided that they will not an entirely non-political group to enjoy the fruits of their labor and have labeled them a hate or extremist group based on no evidence whatsoever. Not every person can simply knock on the door of the Sons of Italy, a Native American group, or a Sikh Temple and just join, so why is the AFA any different? To drive home the degree of slander, consider the following quote:
“The bright spot in all of this is having such an obviously violent white supremacist group in town means we have resources available to us we didn’t even know were there in the first place.”
-- Murdock resident involved in blocking the AFA
Where I live, different races and ethnicities have their own churches, clubs, men's groups, women's groups, youth groups, business guilds, professional associations, political and lobbying groups, and even employment agencies and hospitals (yes). This would even include groups of European origin. So why is this any different? It's different... because they decided that it's different, and they have the money and power to start fake Asatru groups, a fake Heathen watchdog group created with it's only purpose to combat any folk group, and a phony author whose entire career is consists of writing books and attacking them. There are three churches within a mile and a half of me which have congregations of one single ethnicity: Burmese, Italian, and Korean. I think I would defend my worst enemy if an arrogant and dictatorial power structure was trying to bully and strip them of having a private heritage association... especially one which was non-political!
Two associations in San Francisco have a condition of membership based initially being of a particular European background AND being a male (other races and ethnicities have mens groups too). One is the Caledonian Club of San Francisco, and the other is an Italian club but I'm just not certain of the name and I don't want to guess... but a woman told me about it once, who had wanted to join it. Okay, why is the Caledonian Club any different than the Asatru Folk Assembly in the minds of those perpetrating this media attack campaign? I already know the answer, but intellectually they must answer that question.. unless they're content to just be common liars.
The AFA has a mere 500 members in the entire country. The Sons of Italy has essentially the exact same condition of membership as does the Asatru Folk Assembly. However, American proponents of the Italian nationalist Forza Nuova and Greek nationalist Golden Dawn have been attacked by elements of these very well-funded unelected bureaucrats, just not nearly to the degree of this. On the contrary, they don't attack many other nationalists endeavors which are much more extreme than those two political parties. In other words, they pick and choose which races and ethnicities to give their approval or to viciously attack when the actions or particulars of the groups are similar... in many cases with the more extreme being those they approve of. This is a really bad situation going into the future. Less than two miles from me is a hospital for people of a particular national background.... c'mon, a hospital!!
This is the biggest challenge facing any European folk traditions. If this socio-political defacto-religion can use big-media just target a private group and make any wild claim they like without any evidence--including implying make-believe connections between them and some violence person or act which they have no connection to whatsoever--what makes them so different than the Christian zealots of the Middle Ages who tortured and murdered so many of our ancestors? Tyrants for 6,000 years, who wanted to target people they didn't like, have always pitifully exclaimed those first deadly words: "Look everyone, we have a s-i-t-u-a-t-i-o-n here".... and used fake informants, witnesses, and would-be victims to get the ball rolling. One of the precious little darlings who "felt threatened" in one of the many hit pieces was very likely a Catholic, the same church who did so much to persecute native spiritual traditions and other Christians all over the world, and even in modern times with the devastation done to Orthodox Christians in places like Croatia in the last century.

NOTE: Due to a very serious health threat to a close family member, including numerous other related and non-related personal problems, I may not be posting here a lot into the immediate future.
Just a couple of more notes: The quality of text, imagery, and dimensions of this blog has gone downhill in recent months. This is due mainly to changes made to Blogspot. Basically when preparing a posting, what I see is not what I get so to speak. It was that way to an extent even before the most recent changes, and it's difficult and often not possible to straighten out problems in the coding.
I need a period of time to fix my organization and bookmarks, which are out of control. With the above problems, that may take some time. All-in-all, I've run into a perfect storm here.
