Diga del Gleno Dam in the Bergamo Alps - Evidence now showing that it was dynamited in 1923
.
Mysteries of the Abandoned
The Gleno Dam was one of the subjects of an episode of the TV program 'Mysteries of the Abandoned' (episode 'America's Doomsday Town') on the Science channel from October of last year. On that episode it was revealed that a recent investigation seems to provide proof that the structure was dynamited by Communist elements which were at war with Capitalists such as the Vigano family which constructed the dam. I suppose that anyone looking up information about the dam will be fed the old "failed dam' story for quite a few more years however. People talk about Muslim terrorists, but they're nothing compared to Communist terrorists of a century ago. I have actually posted images here of the Gleno Dam not even knowing what it actually was. It looked like ancient ruins... or some type of fantasy mountain cathedral.

Gleno Dam
The Gleno Dam was a multiple-arch dam on the Gleno Creek in the Valle di Scalve in the northern Province of Bergamo, Italy. The dam was constructed between 1916 and 1923 with the purpose of producing hydroelectric power. A portion of the dam failed and burst 40 days after its reservoir was full, on December 1, 1923, killing at least 356 people.

Reddit - Gleno Dam
an estimated 4,500,000 m3 of water gushed from the reservoir at an elevation around 1,535 m (5,036 ft) above sea level to the valley below. [...] stopped when they reached Lake Iseo which lies at an elevation of 186 m (610 ft) above sea level.

Barbellino Dam
[VisitBergamonet in English]
Accessible only by foot, the magnificence of the Barbellino Dam will leave you breathless; when it opens, it gives way to an unstoppable flow of water.
Description
To reach the Bergamasco mountains’ largest artificial lake you have to reach an altitude of 1862m in the Upper Seriana Valley. Here you will find Barbellino, that collects the waters coming from different valleys and the Natural Barbellino Lake.
Between 1926 and 1931, an enormous dam was built to regulate the energy produced in the nearby hydroelectric power station. Thanks to its opening, every summer, on predetermined dates, you can witness the grandiose spectacle of the Serio Waterfalls. About 10,000 cubic metres of water are discharged downstream, creating a triple jump of 315 metres, the highest in Italy.
Mountain lovers can enjoy pleasant trails that pass by the dam, including the one that leads to the CurĂ² Mountain Refuge.
It is interesting to know that during the summer, at the base of the dam’s barrier, you can encounter numerous ibex that climb along the wall, defying gravity in search of saltpeter, a very useful salt in their diet.
