Martinelli's Cidery of Monterey County---with Ticinese origins---turns 150 years old

I wanted to get this in before the end of the year, as 2018 marks a century and a half of Martinelli's Cider.

'BREAK OUT THE BUBBLY: MARTINELLI’S TURNS 150!'

By Garrick Ramirez - SantaCruz.com - July 25, 2018

Beloved sparkling cider and apple juice producer S. Martinelli & Company is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, and we’re bubbling over with excitement! Founded in Watsonville in 1868—the same year Ulysses S. Grant was elected President—the effervescent company is still family-owned, locally-based, and making juice the way they always have: fresh and 100% natural. We’ve got the inside scoop below, and trust us, it gets juicy!

If you were like us, you were introduced to Martinelli’s via their iconic, apple-shaped glass bottle that you begged your mom to buy on trips to the supermarket. Then at Thanksgiving, you’d act cool filling your kids' cup with their sparkling cider from a champagne-style bottle. We weren’t the only ones pretending, either. It’s believed that Dean Martin would swig Martinelli’s—not martinis—onstage, and Martinelli’s cider would double as champagne in Hollywood movies during Prohibition.

But before the Rat Pack and 18th Amendment, there were Swiss-born brothers Stephano and Luigi Martinelli, who immigrated to the U.S. during the Gold Rush years and started farming apples in present-day Watsonville. They introduced a fermented, or “hard,” cider in 1868, and by 1885, they were churning out 15,000 gallons a year (in 2017, Martinelli’s produced that much in less than 2 hours). The brothers began racking up gold medals for their cider at state fairs which explains the medals you see on the labels today. In anticipation of Prohibition, Martinelli’s bottled its first unfermented—alcohol-free—apple juice in 1917. In 1933, the brand introduced its famous apple-glass bottle with the slogan “Drink Your Apple a Day,” and the rest is history.

Asatru winter poem

.
Surpassing the Winter

There is no King nor Queen
To rule over this land
The last remnants I have seen
Have sunk under the sand

A time of great rulership
Now forgotten in ancient lore
When honor in men went too deep
And by the sword they swore

The wooden halls were sacred
Blessed by gods, elves and wights alike
Wise man's words weren't wasted
Wisdom was the law's strike

The wolves howl and the ravens croak
The waking of a new dawn
Campfires and their black smoke
Time to store wheat and corn

Winter approaches with freezing wind
The realm of lords of hunting
Hares and deers were skinned
And back in the farm, the pig's grunting

Hard works ended at October's eve
Burning the soil, a blessing of fertility
The falling of the first leaf
The season's beginning of nature's hostility

Gathering wood to feed the flames
Snow and ice covers the door
To gods, we call upon their names
In need, they won't ignore

Surviving to watch the sun rise
One's victory every waking day
As the winter fades and dies
We may rejoice at its decay.

La Festa dell’ Inverno and tonight's Full Cold Moon

Winter Solstice — La Festa dell’ Inverno — December 21/22

The Festivals of Stregheria

Goddess gives birth to the new Sun God, the child of the Holy Union of ShadowFest. The Watchers, known to the Streghe as the Grigori, come to see this new child, but are suprised to see Janus there presenting his new-born child. It is here that we see Dis and Janus are the two faces of the Great God. The Grigori then proceed to the world of man, bringing the new Lord of the Sun. Lupercus, the Sun, once again begins his growth.

Most of these quotes can be interpreted in different ways. Sometimes there can be a type of quote overkill. I think that "Reflect" is an overlooked one, as there is a lot more to that concept, and it embodies many quotes into one. It could be interpreted as having a basic objective, following a logical path, occasionally taking dares as would be logical, and gaining strength even in defeat.

Sometimes the losing side ends up creating the stronger resonating legend in the end, with the winning side being forgotten. Some Native American tribes used to revere their enemies, perhaps in order to gain their courage and strength. Now that's a difficult spiritual concept to embrace! For me there has to be at least some connection somewhere along the way; a "We" that there once was... in order to think of them as having been a symbol of something desired.

Full Cold Moon - Evening of December 22

There's something special about that final full moon of the year. Although technically winter has only begun, for most of us it's has been colder for the last seven weeks or so. However, this is the final full moon prior to three months of true winter; and for some at least four months.

Being out there tonight, I look forward to the invigorating cold air against my face. I've already had my Yule walk, but this ritual is more purely spiritual and a little more self-oriented.. for me at least. If you're out there, speak a favorite ancestor's name out loud. Say hello to them, because you are them. Maybe even say a person's name whose passed on whom you knew but did not connect with in life if there's something you want to say. Spoken words count. Guido von List: Part 31 - 'The Religion of the Aryo-Germanic Folk' (book review)

'The Religion of the Aryo-Germanic Folk: Esoteric and Exoteric' (List 1909; Flowers' translation 2005)

Actually this is more of a 56 page pamphlet, but a good one! I read this some years ago, but didn't review it because I wanted to support Runa Raven Press and Dr. Stephen Flowers, and in particular the very explicit warning on one of the first pages about the copyright. I have referred to it occasionally in this series. If it wasn't so stern of a warning, then I may well have reviewed it; including a few excerpts. Since it's now easily available on Amazon.com, I wanted to try to promote it in some way with something of a review. Apparently Runa Raven Press is no longer active; perhaps Dr. Flowers uses his own publisher. In any case, I still wanted to adhere to the copyright warning. However, I will go out on a limb to use one particularly important and integral word below; along with just a few words from its definition in the glossary to help promote this publication.

From the publisher

A general outline of the religious philosophy of Guido von List originally published in the 1920s and a companion volume to The Secret of the Runes. There is an introductory essay by Stephen E. Flowers on the roots of Lists ideas and philosophy.

Customer Review

Ron Spolar - 5.0 out of 5 stars - January 7, 2018

Excellent book on Wotan and Aryan beliefs, pre-Christain Germanic customs, religion and much more. Impressive.

This decides the Germanic tradition with what I would call linguistic-forensics. I outlined this book and found it difficult at times to untangle some of the meanings. It was written over 100 years ago; it reflects racism that had yet to germinate. I'm amazed over all the Wotan and Aryan teachings borrowed by the founders of the Christianity;ideas that we were taught in Catechism as being original to Christianity. Approaches religious thought like paganism, Wicca and Faery Tradition concerning God being within yourself, not in a church. List's thoughts on this religion may help some readers integrate their religious thoughts in a way they may have never thought possible. Lots of good pre-christian mythology which can be hard to find. Upon completing the book I felt like had read something profound. Never felt that way about a book before.

************

My take on this book is a little different. I see the information as being just as much Proto-European as it is Teutonic in origin. Of course, they became one people in any sort've modern reflection. I recall somewhere in the book, List makes some mention of perhaps the presence of various spiritual concepts which are of different--maybe sub-tribal--origin. I believe that this may be due to the blending of Proto-European with Teutonic 3,000 or more years ago. I prefer the word "Teutonic" here to Germanic as to not be mixed up with modern ethnic German culture. List uses the term "Aryan" in a manner which is more attuned to an Indo-European concept. In other words, he ties many items from ancient Teutonic, European, Greek, Persian, and Indian languages, spirituality, and traditions. The book delves deep into mysticism, metaphysics, symbols, and linguistics.

Getting back to the linguistics, having spent time closely examining words from the Camunian dialect of the Lombard language (in large part a mixture of Proto-European and Roman/Latin), many Lombard/Camunian words are clearly not of Latin origin. These words are also probably not of Gaulish (the Camunni were not a Gallo-Celt tribe) or Teutonic origin. List, along with the mainstream historians of the day, did not seem to acknowledge the ancient Celtic or Proto-European component of Austria for example. It was "Teutonic," period. Having experienced a type of "mystical" experience before myself, I don't discount List's mysticism. However, some of it may well be of the Proto-European connection.

"Wihinei"

Pronounced "VEE-inn-eye," this is the Listian term for esoteric religion. The exoteric being the simpler outer spiritual layer; the esoteric being the deeper meaning of it. List believed that this deeper connection was administered to by a Skaldic priesthood, something similar to the Druidic priesthood. I won't delve any deeper regarding the origin of this word, but it essentially defines this book. In other words, buy the book. I don't think that I've crossed the line by at least making mention of it. I believe that the ancient roots of at least the Teutonic component of this spirituality originated in the Teutonic homeland, somewhere north of the Himalayas, and was brought to both ancient northern Europe and ancient Persia. This may explain some of the connections. From there, it likely was further transported to Spain, Italy, India, Assyria, etc. As far as I can see, 'The Religion of the Aryo-Germanic Folk' is a great short work that defines the deeper essence of Asatru/Odinism.

'Carmina Burana' - Largely based on eclectic European pre-Christian spiritual folk traditions... and possibly of South Tyrolian origin: Part 2

Carl Orff - O Fortuna - Latin and English Lyrics

Metalius

************

I think that it can be proven that 'O' Fortuna' at least, is based on The Goddess of The Old Religion. The other pieces in 'Carmina Burana', as well as the other two parts of Orff's 'Trionfi' musical trilogy, can be examined over time by any of us interested in examining the pre-Christian tie-ins to this great and famous musical art piece. I would encourage that, as I don't claim in any way that I have all of the answers here. Some of the musical pieces, in my perception, seem to correspond energetically to different times of the year. Much further examination of the poems will be the judge of that. Just the fact that the goddess Fortuna is a deity from Roman mythology is the first small clue, and the idea expands from there.

When examining the translated English lyrics (from the above video) along with the music... it gives a very different look at the intended meaning from the poetry.... as well as the music itself. This was a complaint about Fortuna, the inexorable fate that rules both gods and mortals in Roman and Greek mythology, and this anger was well demonstrated by Carl Orff's work. Most of the poems and songs appear to be the work of Goliards, clergy (mostly students) who satirized the Catholic Church. This brings up two groupings of questions:

1) How was it that they felt comfortable expressing criticism, in any form, towards an often vengeful Catholic Church?... and from within its walls? Does the possible location of origin, the South Tyrol, offer any intrinsic clue to any of this? Was the Church not as strong there? The "witch burnings" there occurred centuries later, so perhaps the Church had not gained a strong foothold there yet? Was there still a folk pagan element alive there, and expressed itself in occult poetry?... or even more explicitly a "folk-pagan occult underground?" (which may or may not have been a part of either the Christian heretical or later Satanic underground). Another possibility is that it was simply a criticism of the old folk-traditions, which--in this particular piece--was a fusion of Roman mythology with The Old Religion (aka Proto-European Witchcraft). That doesn't seem very likely; we already know that they had so often directed satire towards the Church.

Wheel of Fortune symbolism (Rota Fortunae)

2) What exactly was their motivation behind using clear ancient folk-pagan mythology? Was the exoteric meaning implied to be a simple secular reference to the Roman goddess Fortuna; with the real esoteric meaning being a reference to Diana/Hecate? The best question of all.... was this really a cleverly crafted esoteric invocation to the goddess Diana?.... with that "anger" actually being more of a powerful reverence towards her? Since the authors of 'O Fortuna' and other poems from 'Carmina Burana' are apparently unknown (perhaps by design), and there were scores of other poems (Orff only used a small handful), I can only guess. There's much work to do, digging through all of these works. The authors were from numerous locations in western Europe; were these "Goliards" some type of occult underground network? They did all end up together when they were found in deep storage apparently. The South Tyrol connection may not be of any particular importance, as all three possible locations of origin were in the same general south German cultural region, and it was retrieved apparently hidden away in a monastery in Bavaria.

I wanted to sift through all of this piece by piece, but I can see that I've gotten ahead of myself here. Therefore, lets just look at all of this as one big puzzle. In other words, I can't begin to do this justice at this time. It's at least very possible that this could be some sort've underground expression from the old folk traditions. If that was the case, then this could very well be considered a part of neopagan folk history.... and I suppose Car Orff's 'Carmina Burana' as well.... which certainly was not intended to be Christian. It seems almost too convenient that Carl Orff just puts some very old obscure poems to music and it's so perfect! Either he was part of some occult connection, or he's a genius who just happened upon these poems and had a eureka moment! I'll go with the latter at this time.

The Wheel of Fortune from Carmina Burana

The upside cross could mean something, or it may not. Knowing a little bit about how these occult societies work, I wouldn't doubt it. It's at least possible that a Saturnian cult had infiltrated the lower rungs of the Church. Certainly the Catholic Church uses Saturnian symbolism. Also, some of these secret societies have long used symbols of mythology and pagan traditions. Also, the above "wheel of fortune" looks a bit like an eight-pointed wheel of the year from the old Proto-European tradition.

'O' Fortuna' lyrics

O Fortune,
like the moon
you are changeable,
ever waxing
and waning;
hateful life
first oppresses
and then soothes
as fancy takes it;
poverty
and power
it melts them like ice.
Fate - monstrous
and empty,
you whirling wheel,
you are malevolent,
well-being is vain
and always fades to nothing,
shadowed
and veiled
you plague me too;
now through the game
I bring my bare back
to your villainy.
Fate is against me
in health
and virtue,
driven on
and weighted down,
always enslaved.
So at this hour
without delay
pluck the vibrating strings;
since Fate
strikes down the strong man,
everyone weep with me!

A clear conflation of the Roman Fortuna with the Proto-European Almother (aka Diana, Hecate, Mona, etc.):
O Fortune,
like the moon
you are changeable,
ever waxing
and waning

The first and last movements of the piece are called 'Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi' ('Fortune, Empress of the World') and start with the very well known 'O Fortuna.'The first and last movements of the piece are called 'Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi' ('Fortune, Empress of the World') and start with the very well known 'O Fortuna. The "Empress of the World" sounds very much like the many titles given to Hecate in particular. I would have dismissed that idea except for the additional reference to the Moon Goddess.... so lets face it, it's the Moon Goddess of ancient legend.... the Proto-European Almother! However, was the poem really a criticism of the Christian God?.... or of the Pagan Goddess?.... or, was it really just an esoteric invocation of the Pagan Goddess? Love and anger can work very well together symbiotically! The greatest deflation is often when we're let down by someone or something that we love and are devoted to. Also, the Latin text could easily have hidden some clues that were lost in the translation.

'Wakefield'; 'The Shallows' - 2 short film reviews

Wakefield Trailer #1 (2017) | Movieclips Trailers

Movieclips Trailers

************

Wakefield (2016 film)

....based on the short story of same name by E. L. Doctorow, which was in turn inspired by the 1835 story of the same title by Nathaniel Hawthorne.... this story made for and adapted well into a very different type of film. This is a good film. I suppose different people would have very different reactions to it. In short, it was about a very successful NYC attorney, with a beautiful home and two children in the suburbs, who sort've fell upon the idea to hide out in an attic for at least two or three months.... apparently to watch what occurs. "The plot thickens" as he said as the chaos of his absence began (the character narrates the experience). Basically he and his wife were having some serous social-interaction issues to the point of even questioning each others' character on some level. Since I didn't take any notes, I am unable to delve into that; however that part is complex, and most of the negativity that he may have attached to his wife was from his own false perceptions. For example, he used "jealousy" to arouse himself and had her role play it.... in other words, he planted that seed. Also, he wasn't close to his two young daughters... as he hardly even saw them.

At certain points, I thought of him at merely a very well-to-do guy who wanted some type of chaos or excitement. However it came about, he goes through a spiritual awakening. If even just through the pragmatic activity of his newfound existence (ex. eating from garbage containers), he embraces an element of piety. His initial encounter with raccoons symbolizes his new reality; his new unkempt beard almost seems to symbolize that he's living like an animal or that he's living like a raccoon. With that, he experiences a different type of freedom. Scenes showing his workplace of a downtown in NYC in relation to his home, which appears almost rural-suburban was not lost upon me... and may have symbolized something. Maybe that he went from the king of the downtown skyline to living like a raccoon... or getting back to nature... back to simpler things. He took a train to work, which also seemed to imply that his home may have been forty or fifty miles away... from skyline to treeline.

At some point he's discovered by two developmentally disabled teens or young adults who were living next door to him. He befriends them, and has some fun and laughs with them. Prior to that, he felt animosity towards the neighbor who was sponsoring them; in other words, he may well have thought of them as unworthy of his time. However now he was enjoying their simple friendship; very different from the cutthroat relationships that he engaged in downtown. He saw the comparative innocence in their nature and valued it. He told them to keep quiet about him living there, and they did. Later, he asked them not to come around as it was getting too risky for him. However, soon he was feeling ill and was hungry.. and they brought him food. He was moved by their kindness.

He observes all of the goings-on from the circular top story window (symbolizing a "portal," at times glowing in the dark room) of the family's garage unit across the street, which seems to have been on the third floor. So he was socially very far from his hub in downtown NYC, and even far enough away from the home unit to observe in private. There's one point where he is walking along at night amid the tall trees, with bright street lamps shining magnificently around them, and he says "I never left my family. I left myself. Unshackled, I will become the Howard Wakefield I was meant to be." In a roundabout way, life, responsibilities, and pressure in a big city can be like wearing shackles. Everything is about the politic... people don't really even know themselves. He mentions at one point that he was seeing his children more than he ever had before, and finally he sees his wife rejecting the advances of one adversarial colleague of his... and she never does cheat on him.

At one point he says that he loves his wife much more "now".. than he ever had before. Many didn't like the ending, which leaves it up to the imagination. Bryan Cranston plays Howard Wakefield, and is a very good actor; and Jennifer Garner plays his wife Diana Wakefield, and is a good actress when she's not talking baby-talk in Capital One commercials. As far as wondering what finally occurred, I wonder if it was something like what transformed in the film "Regarding Henry', where a jerk attorney was shot in the head and had to start over again.. and became a different person, then loved by his young daughter whom he has been distant. Also, I love the concept of mood-changing different comparative environments; the films 'Copland' and 'Unfaithful' come to mind.

THE SHALLOWS - Official Trailer #2 (HD)

Sony Pictures Entertainment

In the taut thriller The Shallows, when Nancy (Blake Lively) is surfing on a secluded beach, she finds herself on the feeding ground of a great white shark. Though she is stranded only 200 yards from shore, survival proves to be the ultimate test of wills, requiring all of Nancy's ingenuity, resourcefulness, and fortitude.

************

The Shallows (2016 film)

'The Shallows' is a survival thriller, maybe not as deep as others that come to mind for me--such as 'Jeremiah Johnson', 'Jaws' or 'The Edge'--but I liked it. Blake Lively plays the part of a medical student who is taking a trip by herself down to Baja California (actually filmed in Australia) to surf; to the same secluded beach that her recently passed-away mother had visited when she was pregnant with her. So it starts with a life-transforming experience that soon becomes explicitly so. There's more to her personal life that more defines why this trip is important to her; mostly revolving around the fact that she was very affected by her mother's death.

This was an interesting role for Lively because clearly this woman has a certain energy to her; much more than being pretty or sexy, Blake Lively is just plain cool.. without even trying. Years ago an older man said to me that he thought Burt Reynolds was the only cool person in Hollywood; I would suggest now that Blake Lively is the only cool person in Hollywood. Often that doesn't translate well to this type of role beyond mixing danger with sex appeal for box office success. However, I think she did a very good job here. This was a very brutal film that keeps one at the edge of their seat through a large part of it. One interesting nuance is the presence of a small injured sea gull, whom she befriends while stranded on a rock... and even pushes its wing back into its socket. I don't want to give too much away since it would take away from the thrill of the film.

The film, although some aspects of it may be something of a stretch, brought out the brutal side of nature. Several weeks ago I was watching one of those white butterflies out the window, which to me represent a certain serenity.... then abruptly a small bird took off after it; eventually catching it and landing on a tree branch to finish the meal.... brutal. The movie has lots of blood and death, but delivered in a slow methodical manner. I think just the above description from the trailer says it all. Just like the massive Kodiak bear from 'The Edge', this Great White Shark symbolizes the brutal side of nature... and was literally a "monster."

There are also some frantic moments where she must endure and treat severe injury, so it gets rather intense. The ending scene is in some way, similar to the ending scene in 'Jaws'... you remember... "I used to hate the water"....... "I can't imagine why"...... danger over, back to nature's tranquility. Also, the protagonist's easy nature in such sharp contrast with this killing machine.

Transylvanian haunted forest - Hoia-Baciu

Hoia-Baciu | The World's Most Haunted Forest Documentary

Paradrome

The Hoia-Baciu forest is a fascinating place. Once you cross its boundaries, you find yourself immersed in a world of magic that truly captivates your mind. Although it lays a few kilometers away from the city of Cluj-Napoca, the heart of Transylvania, it still holds a wild, untamed spirit, which reminds us of the importance that nature holds in our lives. Locals nearby are familiar with the strange energies contained inside. The phenomena manifested there, beyond their power of understanding, prompted them not to ask reckless questions. Because of fear, the forest remained, for a long period of time, shrouded in mystery. The place itself is a mythical source of lore and legends. In this episode we explore some of the most important unsolved cases.

Hoia Baciu: Inside the creepiest forest in Transylvania'

Forget Count Dracula’s castle; Transylvania’s really frightful place is ‘haunted’ forest Hoia Baciu. Sophie Buchan goes for a night-time stroll

Sophie Buchan - Independant (UK) - October 30, 2017

We are in The Clearing. The trees stop in a uniform oval where nothing grows and where, since official records began, nothing has grown. “Once when I came here,” says Alex, our guide, “I found 60 people from Bucharest trying to open a gate into another dimension.”

This is Hoia Baciu, just outside Cluj-Napoca, Romania’s second city in the depths of Transylvania. It has been called the creepiest forest in the world. And The Clearing is, allegedly, the creepiest place in the forest. It defies the investigations of soil scientists and attracts Romanian witches, sword-wielding Americans, and people who try to cleanse the forest of evil through the medium of yoga.

In the English-speaking world, the words “Transylvania” and “Halloween” conjure up a pre-Twilight Edward Cullen scaling the walls of his castle. But tourists coming to Romania for a Dracula experience are likely to leave disappointed. Romania is resistant to the Dracula legend. His namesake – Vlad Dracul or, more commonly, Vlad the Impaler – is a national hero.  And Bran Castle, the most explicitly Dracula-themed attraction, has only a tenuous connection to Stoker’s creation, plus the priggish feel of a National Trust property. So here I am, on a night-time tour of the Hoia Baciu Forest, trying to find a real fright in autumnal Transylvania.

I like the black-and-white image of this piece as well, of which has a certain timeless allure. Katheryn Winnick is of Ukrainian descent, a region with some Viking roots. The Russian Czars were descended from the Viking rulers there.

There are some who are a bit unhappy with how the Asatru religion has been portrayed on 'Vikings', and a few other things; however, being one of the more popular TV programs, it still perhaps gives a needed promotion of Asatru/Heathenry/Odinism. Maybe it has planted the seed for some people.

"Breaking the Folk Spirit" - How folk cultures are easily subjugated after their gods are destroyed

 Cusco Cathedral

The Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin, also known as Cusco Cathedral, is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cusco. The cathedral is located on the Plaza de Armas. Building was completed in 1654, almost a hundred years after construction began.

Kiswarkancha

The Incas built the temple known as Kiswarkancha on the main square in Cusco. It was the Inca palace of Viracocha, ruler of the Kingdom of Cusco around a century before the Spanish colonists arrived. The aboriginal name of this city was Qusqu. Although it was used in Quechua, its origin has been found in the Aymara language. The word itself originated in the phrase qusqu wanka ("Rock of the owl"), attending to the foundational myth of the Ayar siblings.

Near to the Kiswarkancha was the Suntur Wasi, an armoury and heraldry centre for the Inca royalty. When the Spanish conquistadores arrived in Cuzco, they decided to take down the temple and build their Christian cathedral in that prominent site.

Basilica Cathedral of our Lady of Assumption

The cathedral's construction began in 1559 on the foundations of Kiswarkancha. It is shaped like a Latin cross. The location of Viracocha's palace was chosen for the purpose of removing the Inca religion from Cusco, and replacing it with Spanish Catholic Christianity. Because 1559 was only 26 years after the conquistadores entered Cusco in 1533, the vast majority of the population was still of Quechua Inca descent. The Spaniards used the Incas as a labour workforce to build the cathedral.

The Method

One of the greatest unsolved mysteries of all time; how did less than 200 Spanish soldiers defeat an Inca Empire in the millions? There were about 40,000 actual Incas who systemically ruled over many other tribal regions who were like Inca provinces. Ironically, the Incas were actually, in some ways, guilty of what I'm pointing out in this piece. Their god was put above all others, although I don't know if they actually suppressed other traditions. In any case, they were a powerful empire who could easily raise a standing army of a quarter of a million. Their capitol was Cusco, as well as the location of their main temple. It's interesting that the Spanish kept the name "Cusco," but the folk tradition had to go. Jesus was to have said "Conquer in my name," and they did it. No more Viracocha. In this way their actions were similar to the Romans' M.O.; to replace and/or smother out the old ways of a conquered people.

This Roman method was a relatively soft way of pacifying a defeated people. Sometimes it was even a way of pacifying sovereign allies, such as with some Germanic tribes. For example, they would conflate Wotan with their god Mercury; then recruit some of them into their own military ranks. The Spaniards of Peru seemed to use some of the tricks out of the old Roman game plan; only in this case they decided to explicitly bury the old Inca spiritual tradition. Since you can't eliminate "a place," they decided to replace/"smother" out the the temple. While Muslims used brutal methods, Christians often used deception. The developing theory is that the Spaniards benefited from a period of growing discontent within the Incan "provinces." Some of the tribal groups sided with the Spaniards, and that is probably "how the west was won" in South America; somewhat similar to how certain tribes sided with the British or French during the "French and Indian War."

Catholic or Protestant authorities have always wielded power from behind the scenes. The Vatican's actions in Croatia during WW2 was nothing short of stunning; the church was literally still killing people via proxy because of their religion in the 20th century! It was no accident that churches were built right on top of ancient Druidic temples, although the Christianizing of the Druids was a much less violent conflation and conversion than that of the Germanic peoples. Charlemagne used the most brutal methods; and during later periods, incoming Christian authorities cut off Viking trade routes if they refused to convert. Even people like St. Patrick weren't really who we may have thought they were. St. Patrick was an English Catholic who used conflation and deception to get the job done.

If we're totally honest, incoming pagan invaders sometimes did the same thing; such as when Olympian gods replaced the more ancient goddess Hecate. In the Val Camonica there is evidence of how, in certain instances, one goddess statue's head was knocked off and another god or goddess' statue was constructed next to it; then at a later point, that statue's head was knocked off, etc. Also, even in the still strongly pagan Val Camonica of the Middle Ages, the meaning of the name of the ancient goddess "Mona" was changed to "a whore" (ouch, that was difficult for me to type!). Everything about the ancient Camun culture was about the moon ("mon") and the moon goddess (Mona), and still this can happen when people forget their true folk past.

Huge multinational corporations from the United States, Western Europe, and elsewhere, used to work with Christian missionaries to first "soften up" the people whom they wanted to subjugate and/or "take their resources." Most often the grinning, well fed, perhaps drunken, and newly Christened people gave it away without a fight. I remember quacky Christian entrepreneur Bill Schnoebelen told a story once about how a newly arrived missionary, in rural Borneo, humiliated the local shaman to prove to the locals that Christ was really the way. In other words, that their own spirituality was a fraud and needed to go... permanently! Who knows if the story was even true, but this big business-missionary "dog and pony show" went on for centuries. The expanding Islamic program was more honest; it was either "convert"... or it was the sword.

Queen, Freddie Mercury and the Devil

Good Fight Ministries

Queen was once one of the world’s most successful bands. The band was headed up by front man and flamboyant homosexual Freddie Mercury. This video reveals some history about Queen and their place in Satan’s plan that the media, movie and music industries would rather you didn’t know. Was Freddie Mercury’s famous song “Bohemian Rhapsody” an autobiography based on his own life? Does the band hate Christianity? Would they rather go to hell than to heaven? Once again we reveal another example of a band doing Satan’s bidding.

DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE?

A Call For An Uprising

A good christmas song of music or more?

Said the night wind to the little lamb,
Do you see what I see
Way up in the sky, little lamb,
Do you see what I see
A star, a star, dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy,
Do you hear what I hear
Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy,
Do you hear what I hear
A song, a song, high above the trees
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king,
Do you know what I know
In your palace warm, mighty king,
Do you know what I know
A Child, a Child shivers in the cold
Let us bring Him silver and gold
Let us bring Him silver and gold

Said the king to the people everywhere,
Listen to what I say
Pray for peace, people everywhere!
Listen to what I say
The Child, the Child, sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light

The Untold Truth Of Ouija Boards

Grunge

We all have fun stories about messing around with a Ouija board, whether it was that one night in college, a Halloween party, or that time we actually summoned a demon who spoke Latin and threatened to set us on fire. It's one of those board games that's fun no matter what you think of it, and it doesn't matter if you think you can speak to the dead or if you just think it's a great opportunity to mess with someone. But no matter how many times you've played it, there are probably some things you don't know…
