Early this past morning, at about 3:00 AM, I was out on a deck which was located outside of a tall fence and overlooking the lower slopes of San Bruno Mountain. This lower slope was approximately 600 feet elevation and connected to the state park. When I got out there, there was an owl above on a telephone cable, majestically black against the dark sky. This proved to be a good metaphor for my experience as the owl has very long symbolized wisdom. It soon flew off as I was interfering with its hunting process. I set my radio on the table, sat back on a reclining lounge chair, and began listening to the rebroadcast of Coast To Coast AM. The moonless sky was particularly dark as the mid-80s temperature of the previous day had finally dropped to probably 60 degrees, I could see the stars as clear as it could be possible in that wild oasis in the middle of urban sprawl. A fairly impressive sight. This very private deck was like a fantasy bedroom amid the wilds, occasionally with something stirring within the darkness of a nearby grove of trees. A rare moment of energetic and spiritual perfection, at least in these busy parts. I dozed off a couple of times; however at one point I did hear the guest say something that intrigued me. A concept that I had thought of many times, but still something that's always nice to hear some confirmation of. He said as a momentary side to some other point he was making, "The best thing in life is to know your purpose." I then thought of the obvious pattern. Before someone could even begin to fulfill their life purpose, even before they could begin planning it, they must discover what it is. I believe that this thing could easily be more than one thing. However, even so, it's very likely that these parts would fit together within a single plan. Being that this is an individual spiritual endeavor, these parts must already be related. Still, there must be that one glorious moment where the bigger focus becomes clear, and I think that moment sparks this hypothetical beginning. Perhaps many of the ideas, values, or parts are already inside of you.... and it took that one final discovery that pushed your consciousness in just the right area that finally turned on the lights of the entire house so to speak. That moment when all of these seemingly unrelated parts almost magically coalesce and you realize that they are in fact related, and the life purpose is born. I would then amend that quote slightly to the following....
"The greatest thing in life is to discover your true purpose."
I suspect that often there may be more than one of those moments along the same progression. However, there does seem to be that one cornerstone concept that ultimately jogs everything into place. Either a moment or a short period of discovery. Possibly even greater than knowing your life purpose is the initial intuitive discovery of it; the spiritual aesthetic of it. It then becomes an intrinsic source of energy and coordination to everything else. It simply cannot be contrived. It's difficult to communicate the glory of it to others because it is so deeply personal.... but you did it!
I wish I had gotten this post up earlier, as this is quite a rarity! Several weeks back I had mistakenly stated that this full moon was a tweener, falling at the mid-point between Friday and Saturday evening. I had misread it as PM. In fact the Moon is at its fullest tonight, Friday the 13th.

I was watching the program 'The Devil You Know' on the VICE TV channel this past week. After hearing some of the commentary of the former friends of the late Johnny Lawson aka Pazuzu Algarad, it was obvious to me that a big part of his inspiration was the Rob Zombie film 'The Devil's Rejects'. He started what he referred to as a Sumerian Satanic religion, taking the name Pazuzu from the demon in 'The Exorcist'.
